multi-lingual, with many languages being added all the time. N.B.: The
purchase link is provided for donations; the software does not cost
anything.
Changes: Language support was improved. Most themes now support
translations and can handle graphics in different languages (see "-lang nl
-theme Blue"). This version should be used instead of 4.00 for language
work.

[002] - Apache AntUnit 1.0
by Stefan Bodewig (http://freshmeat.net/users/bodewig/)
Mon, Jan 8th 2007 10:05
Software Development :: Build Tools
Software Development :: Testing
About: AntUnit is a library of Ant tasks that was initially developed to
write tests for Ant tasks without resorting to JUnit. It makes it easy to
turn an existing build file that exhibits an error into an AntUnit test.
Tests are written as targets in a build file using assertion tasks
provided by AntUnit. The antunit task executes targets in a collection of
build files and supports custom listeners in a manner similar to the junit
task's formatters.
Changes: This is the first "proper" release. it is almost identical to the
1.0beta2 release.

[005] - Arno's IPTABLES Firewall Script 1.8.8e
by Arno (http://freshmeat.net/users/arnova/)
Mon, Jan 8th 2007 07:43
System :: Networking
System :: Networking :: Firewalls
About: Arno's IPTABLES Firewall Script is a secure stateful firewall for
both single and multi-homed machines. It supports NAT and SNAT, port
forwarding, ADSL ethernet modems with both static and dynamically assigned
IPs, MAC address filtering, stealth port scan detection, DMZ and DMZ-2-LAN
forwarding, protection against SYN/ICMP flooding, and extensive user
definable logging with rate limiting to prevent log flooding. It has
plugin support to add extra features (like SSH Brute Force protection and
(Racoon) IPSEC support). It is easy to configure and highly customizable.
A filter script that makes your firewall log more readable is also
included.
Changes: Several improvements were made in the plugin code. Plugins now
have a seperate configuration file. The ssh brute force protection plugin
was updated to version 0.24BETA. Module loading was changed. The
INVALID_PACKET_LOG variable was replaced with INVALID_TCP_LOG,

Multimedia :: Graphics :: 3D Modeling
Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: Analysis
About: The aim of auch is to visualize harmonics in musical recordings.
Many tools show the spectrum, but this tool focuses on one or two specific
octaves with an indication of the tonica (the key) and sub-dominant(IV) and
dominant(V). It also supports wavelet transformation and resampling to
further analyze and clean-up the recording. This way, notes, chords, and
harmonics in a musical piece become more clear. Another feature is that
this tool can compare audio output (from a .wav file) with audio input
(microphone). This way, external filters added between the audio out and
in and the effects of a sound card can be studied.
Changes: Code refactoring of the display manager. Better thread control.
Fixes for minor soft bugs. A fix for a Makefile error. GCC v4
compatibility. Speedup of the FFT data feed and better legends on the
different graphs.

[026] - imieniny 1.2.1
by F Cardone (http://freshmeat.net/users/fcardone/)
Mon, Jan 8th 2007 14:51
Office/Business :: News/Diary
Other/Nonlisted Topic
About: Imieniny reads a list of names and the dates on which those saints
are commemorated in Poland. The "name-day", i.e. the day on which a saint
bearing a person's name is commemorated, is important in Poland, and is
celebrated like a birthday. The program, given a date, will display what
people have their "name-days" on that day. Given a name, it will display
when that name has its name-day(s). Since people in Poland like to send
little "mini-poems", a selection of these is included.
Changes: Now alerts can also be sent by email. This is useful when running
as a cron job.

[027] - iODBC Driver Manager and SDK 3.52.5
by Tim Haynes (http://freshmeat.net/users/spodzone/)
Mon, Jan 8th 2007 07:21
Database :: Database Engines/Servers
About: iODBC is a cross-platform Driver Manager that comforms to the
Microsoft ODBC 2.x & 3.x and X/Open SQL CLI data access specs. It enables
the development of database-centric solutions that are both database and
platform independent. This is a great SDK for porting WIN32-based ODBC
applications to Linux and other OS platforms.
Changes: This version adds two major new features. With File DSNs, you can
store connection parameters in separate files per DSN (under
/etc/ODBCDataSources/ by default). Connection-Pooling allows you to keep a
pool of ODBC connections active for quicker (re)connection. Additionally
there are several small bugfixes, including SQLSetStmtAttr(), a check for
/Library/ODBC/ and other build issues on Mac OS X, and use of localtime_r
in tracing where available.

[028] - Java Properties 0.8.3
by draemon (http://freshmeat.net/users/draemon/)
Mon, Jan 8th 2007 15:46
Software Development :: Libraries :: Java Libraries
About: Java Properties provides an efficient way to access bean-like
properties of Java objects. Unlike Java bean properties, a chain of
properties can be specified efficiently, allowing convenient access to
properties of nested domain objects. Runtime class-generation and caching
can be used very easily to obviate the need for reflection, without losing
the flexibility it provides. Properties are specified using strings like
"P1:P2:...:Pn", and can even be cast like this: "(C1)P1:(C2)P2:...:Pn".

[029] - jBixbe 1.1
by ds-emedia (http://freshmeat.net/users/dsemedia/)
Mon, Jan 8th 2007 10:36
Software Development :: Debuggers
About: The jBixbe debugger lets you debug Java applications on the
conceptual level of the Unified Modeling Language (UML) at which they are
designed and makes it possible to find not only simple bugs but also
weaknesses and inefficiencies in application design. It shows the big
picture of your application so you can recognize classes and objects, and
their relationships and interaction. Different view levels support
top-down debugging and simplify debugging of multi-threaded applications.
Source code debugging has been fully integrated into the object-oriented
visualization.
Changes: This release adds a help system, including a HOWTO and tutorial
with prepackaged demo projects to become familiar with jBixbe quickly. The
debug session time for the free trial license was increased to six minutes.

by Rufus Pollock (http://freshmeat.net/users/rgrp/)
Mon, Jan 8th 2007 04:28
Office/Business :: Groupware
About: KForge is a system for managing software and knowledge projects. It
re-uses existing best-of-breed tools such as versioned storage
(subversion), a tracker (trac), and a wiki (trac or moinmoin), integrating
them with the system's own facilities (projects, users, permissions, etc.).
KForge also provides a complete Web interface for project administration,
as well a fully-developed plugin system, so new services and features can
be easily added.
Changes: Wordpress and Mailman plugins were added. Integration of the main
KForge system with subsystem applications such as trac was improved. Speed
of access to the site and services was greatly improved (by about 10
times). "Remember me" support when logging in was added. "Forgot password"
support was added. Databases other than PostgreSQL are now supported,
including MySQL. A "Notify" plugin was added to notify system
administrators of events such as user registration and project creation. A
substantial set of usability improvements were made to the Web interface.
Core code was factored out into a separate reusable package named
"domainmodel".

About: The MP3 Streaming DownSampler for PHP is written with cable
modem/DSL users with low upstream caps in mind. Using LAME, it dynamically
downsamples a requested MP3 to a bitrate which can be streamed. It doesn't
use temporary files, so you don't have to take the time to do any
batching, and you just give it a directory with symlinks to your music in

[040] - Object Shell 0.8.0
by geophile (http://freshmeat.net/users/geophile/)
Mon, Jan 8th 2007 10:31
Utilities
About: Object Shell (osh) is the interpreter for a Python-like language
that supports the composition of commands through piping, similar to pipes
in a Unix shell. However, the key difference is that objects are passed
through the pipes in osh instead of streams of text. The objects passed
between commands can be Python built-ins or complex objects such as dates
and times, database rows, or OS resources. Objects can be automatically
converted to strings for integration with the conventional Unix
environment.
Changes: Osh has been restructured so that top-level modules are in the
osh package. The configuration file now supports slice notation, (e.g.
osh.remote['cluster-123'].user = 'root'). New commands have been added:
version, imp, and py. There is a new oshapi command, return_list() to
return o stream output in a list. Most uses of oshapi no longer need to
handle o and e stream outputs via handlers. There have been many
improvements in error handling, especially remote errors.

SQLite) at an object/paragraph level for "atomic searches". Prepare
documents using your text editor of choice, then use SiSU to generate the
desired output formats. Vim 7 provides syntax highlighting for SiSU
markup. (For earlier versions, a syntax highlighting file is provided).

[064] - Timemachine 20061220-0
by Gregor Maier (http://freshmeat.net/users/maiergre/)
Mon, Jan 8th 2007 14:59
Internet
Security
System :: Networking
About: The timemachine can record the entire contents of a high-volume
network traffic stream in order to later "travel back in time" and inspect
activity that has only become interesting in retrospect. Two examples of
use are security forensics (determining just how an attacker compromised a
given machine) and network trouble-shooting, such as inspecting the
precursors to a fault after the fault. The timemachine is designed to work
in Gigabit environments and to store several days of network traffic.
Changes: A huge increase in performance due to changes in internal data
structures, index generation and aggregation, using ptmalloc on FreeBSD,
and thread scheduling. Documentation updates. Support for running tm in
the background as a daemon.

Communications
Internet
Internet :: Proxy Servers
About: Tor is a network of virtual tunnels that allows people and groups
to improve their privacy and security on the Internet. It also enables
software developers to create new communication tools with built-in
privacy features. It provides the foundation for a range of applications
that allow organizations and individuals to share information over
public networks without compromising their privacy. Individuals can use
it to keep remote Websites from tracking them and their family members.
They can also use it to connect to resources such as news sites or
instant messaging services that are blocked by their local Internet
service providers (ISPs).
Changes: This release enables write limiting by default, makes NT services
more convenient and more correct, includes better detection for misbehaving
DNS on servers, and has many other features and bugfixes. It ships with
Vidalia 0.0.10.

Software Development
Software Development :: Compilers
Software Development :: Debuggers
About: Ultimate++ is a cross-platform C++ rapid application development
suite. It includes set of libraries (for things like GUI and SQL) and an
integrated development environment. Rapid development is achieved by smart
and aggressive use of C++ rather than through fancy code generators. In
this respect, U++ competes with popular scripting languages while
preserving C/C++ runtime characteristics. Its integrated development
environment, TheIDE, introduces modular conception to C++ programming, and
can be used to develop non-U++ applications.

Changes: An impressive improvement was made in the speed of I/O: about
300% perceivable improvement. A new callback API was added to monitor the
progress of encrypt and decrypt operations. The -v option for verbose
output was added. Previously, -v was attached to the --version option.
Now, for seeing the version, you have to use the long format only
