[016] - eZ components 2006.2
by eZ systems (http://freshmeat.net/users/eZsystems/)
Tue, Jan 16th 2007 08:23
Software Development
About: eZ components is an enterprise-ready, general-purpose PHP platform.
As a collection of high-quality independent building blocks for PHP
application development, eZ components will both speed up development and
reduce risks. An application can use one or more components easily, as
they all adhere to the same naming conventions and follow the same
structure. All components are based on PHP 5.1, except for the ones that
require the new Unicode support that will be available from PHP 6 on.
Changes: The Graph component renders statistical data into 2-D and 3-D
charts and graphs like bar, pie, and line charts. The SignalSlot component
implements a kind of Subject-Observer pattern for object-oriented
application design. Designed after Qt's Signals and Slots mechanism, it
gives you a handy tool for inter- and intra-object communication. The Url
component conveniently extracts data from URLs and similarly creates URLs.
This mechanism is commonly used in controller parts of a
Model-View-Controller (MVC) implementation.

editor, a post-processor, and a graph plotter for results viewing. Impact
also interfaces with several other programs, such as Nastran and Gmsh.
Changes: This release fixes bugs in the HTML documentation. Preprocessor
now imports all elements from a GMSH .msh file, and has faster export of
in files (a few minutes versus an hour). PostProcessor remembers the last
directory used. Solver checks for NIP used in Solid_iso_4 element and
calculates the correct mass calculation of tetrahedron Solid_iso_4 and
Solid_iso_6 elements. The find and replace feature in the editor is
improved, but not complete. The Optimizer GUI values now control the
optimiser, which has a corrected output when using Solid_iso_4 elements.

by Adrian Thurston (http://freshmeat.net/users/age/)
Tue, Jan 16th 2007 23:41
Software Development :: Code Generators
Software Development :: Compilers
Text Processing :: General
About: Kelbt generates backtracking LALR parsers. It is different from
other backtracking LR systems in two ways. Firstly, it introduces a class
of actions called undo actions, which are invoked as the backtracker
undoes parsing. These allow the user to revert any side effects of forward
semantic actions, making it possible to backtrack over language constructs
which must modify global state in preparation for handling context
dependencies. Secondly, it enables a user-controlled parsing strategy
approximating that of generalized recursive-descent parsing. This makes it
easy to resolve language ambiguities by ordering the grammar productions of
a nonterminal according to their precedence. A partial C++ parser composed
of a scanner, a name lookup stage, and a grammar with standard semantic
actions and semantic undo actions is included.
Changes: Line directives are now generated for inline code blocks which
are passed through to the output file. Access to the production
non-terminal element and the right-hand side elements is now supported in
final actions. A priority mechanism for explicit control of conflicting
actions was added. This is useful in select instances for overriding the
"innermost" nature of ordered choice and obtaining an "outermost"
strategy.

Tue, Jan 16th 2007 05:17
System :: Monitoring
System :: Networking :: Monitoring
System :: Systems Administration
About: NetXMS is a monitoring system with a modular architecture. It can
be used for monitoring an entire IT infrastructure, starting with
SNMP-capable hardware (like switches and routers) and ending with
applications on servers. The system has a three-tier architecture; the
information is collected by monitoring agents (either its own agents or
SNMP agents) and delivered to the monitoring server for processing and
storing, where it can be accessed by using the management console. It
features centralized configuration and centralized agent upgrades.
Changes: This release adds initial support for cluster monitoring,
management packs support for easier deployment on large networks, an SNMP
proxy module, and a subagent for executing ODBC queries as DCI. The core
agent was improved significantly (with File.* and Process.* parameters).
The internal scripting language now supports the "switch" statement. The
Windows console was partially rewritten: it has a new object browser, and
its graphs support was improved. Multiple FreeBSD issues which were found
in 0.2.14 were resolved.

Information Management
About: WebIssues is a system that supports team collaboration across the
Internet. It can be used for storing bugs and other information with
customizable attributes, comments, and file attachments. The server can be
installed on any host with PHP and MySQL or PostgreSQL. The client is a KDE
application which is faster and more comfortable than Web-based interfaces.
Changes: The main feature implemented in this release is filtering issues
shown in the folder view and quick searching by issue name. This makes

About: WordPress is a state-of-the-art, semantic, personal publishing
platform with a focus on aesthetics, Web standards, and usability. It was
born out of a desire for an elegant, well-architectured personal

Weblog functions, it also has an integrated link manager (e.g. for
blogrolls), XFN support, support for "static" pages, Atom and RSS feeds
for both content and comments, XML-RPC blogging API support (Blogger,
MetaWeblog, and Movable Type APIs), spam blocking features, advanced
cruft-free URL generation, a flexible theme system, and an advanced plugin
API.
Changes: The major focus of this release was a new security patch under
certain versions of PHP with register_globals turned on, plus a fix in
Conditional GET support under certain combinations of IIS/PHP-CGI versions
