[013] - FlightFeather Social Networking Platform 0.3.3 (Development)

  Fri, Feb 9th 2007 14:09

Database :: Database Engines/Servers
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content :: Message Boards

About: FlightFeather's goal is "social networking for everyone". This
means that anyone should have a chance to run a popular social networking
site on minimal hardware, and without wasting bandwidth. Whenever the
system's state changes, it generates static HTML pages. Pure read
operations (usually about 90% of the total) do not require the application
to run at all. Although FlightFeather is at an early stage of development,
it is already functional, and runs the "bosstats.com" site.

Changes: This release modifies the way the FlightFeather server loads the
configuration, protocol, session, and storage modules on startup. The
actual loading process now takes place after all options have been parsed.
If the "-c" or "--command" option is present, the server does not import
these modules at all, since they are not required. The new implementation
also fixes a bug that caused the test versions of the above modules to
always load, in addition to any modules specified on the command line.

Software Development :: Libraries :: Java Libraries

About: JOpt Simple is a simple, test-driven command line parser for Java
programs. It supports POSIX getopt() and GNU getopt_long().

Changes: A bug has been fixed with POSIX-ly correct parsers. It was
previously thought that POSIX-ly correct parsers should signal the end of
options when they detect an option that does not lexically look like an
option and could not be an argument of a previous option, required or
optional. Such parsers now signal the end of options when they detect an
option that does not lexically look like an option, and is not an argument
of a previous option with a required argument.

  by Maxime Morge (http://freshmeat.net/users/maximemorge/)
  Fri, Feb 9th 2007 07:12

About: MARGO is an Argumentation Framework for decision making. A logic
language is used as a concrete data structure for holding the statements
like knowledge, goals, and actions. Different priorities are attached to
these items corresponding to the reliability of the knowledge, the user's
preferences, and the credibility of alternatives. These concrete data
structures consist of information providing the backbone of arguments. Due
to the abductive nature of decision making, arguments are built by
reasoning backwards. Moreover, arguments are defined as tree-like
structures. In this way, MARGO can be used as a Decision Support System,
suggesting some solutions, as other classical approaches, but also
providing an interactive and intelligible explanation of the choices.

About: MIMEDefang is a flexible MIME email scanner designed to do all
kinds of email processing, including anti-virus scanning, anti-spam
scanning, replacing parts of messages with URLs, adding boilerplate
disclaimers, and so on. It can alter or delete various parts of a MIME
message according to a Perl-based policy filter. It can also bounce
messages with unacceptable attachments and modify SMTP response codes on
the fly. It works with the Sendmail 8.11 and newer "Milter" API, which
makes it more flexible and efficient than procmail-based approaches.

Changes: This release fixes a bug introduced in 2.59 that was exploitable
as a denial-of-service attack, and may have possibly allowed arbitrary
code execution as the "defang" user.
