About: AnotherScrapBook is a static Website generator. It can currently
handle (almost) all kinds of pictures, as well as MJPEG films as
typically generated by a digital camera.

Changes: This version concentrates on bugfixes, particularly a nasty bug
involving incorrect rights. It moves away from MPEG1 towards MPEG2, a
small step towards DVD compatibility.

About: The aim of auch is to visualize harmonics in musical recordings.
Many tools show the spectrum, but this tool focuses on one or two specific
octaves with an indication of the tonica (the key) and sub-dominant(IV) and
dominant(V). It also supports wavelet transformation and resampling to
further analyze and clean-up the recording. This way, notes, chords, and
harmonics in a musical piece become more clear. Another feature is that
this tool can compare outgoing audio (from a .wav file) with incoming
audio (microphone). This way, the effect of external filters can be
tested.

Changes: This is a compatibility release, including portaudio 19 (with the
PA_COMPAT19 directive) and support for MacOS X 10.4 (experimental).

About: Barcode Writer in Pure Postscript implements the printing of many
barcode formats entirely within level 2 PostScript, so that the process of
converting the input string into the printed output is performed by the
printer itself. This avoids the need to re-implement the barcode
generation process whenever your language needs change. The project
supports most major barcode formats including EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E,
ISBN, Code 128 (A, B, and C), Code 39, Interleaved 2 of 5, Postnet, Code 2
of 5, and Codabar.

Changes: This release fixes incorrect checksum calculation for UPC-E
symbols.

into much more. It is based on extensible template controllers (custom
view classes in PHP) and weakly-active templates (simple logic in HTML).

Changes: An internal output wrapper was added: escape. {{ escape($a); }},
works exactly like <? echo htmlspecialchars($a, ENT_QUOTES); ?>. Minor
fixes were made for tests and documentation.

provide some tools to generate the menu entries and icons from desktop and
icon files provided by the applications in the system.

Changes: This release adds many new recipes as well as a few minor
bugfixes. The bugfixes are in fact a workaround for the Qt/KDE systray
implementation that is compatible with nothing else. Another workaround is
for the alsaplayer GTK interface that doesn't quit well when shutting down

Software Development :: Libraries

About: EiffelStudio is a complete development environment for the Eiffel
programming language. It includes a compiler, an interactive debugger, and
many modern features like a full round-trip class diagram editor or
refactoring support. Eiffel is compiled through C to produce very fast
executables. EiffelStudio is highly portable and supports Linux, Microsoft
Windows, MacOS X, most flavors of Unix, and even VMS or embedded
environments. Portability of applications is supported by a large set of
portable libraries, including: data structure, network, native GUI,
database access, parsing, XML, Web, COM, and many more.

Changes: This release adds some new debugger features, such as evaluation
of procedures and a quick visualization of features that are melted or
have a rescue clause in the call stack. This is also the first release
that is able to compile FreeELKS directly. EiffelBase is still the default
standard library, but will be phased out by FreeELKS in the final 6.0

About: Evolution SpamBayes Plugin is a plugin for Evolution that filters
out spam mail (also known as junk mail) using the SpamBayes filtering
engine.

Changes: The previous version didn't rate anything as spam, only ham; mail
is now scored correctly in Evolution. A way to edit the settings to tune
the spam engine using a graphical frontend has been added, but is not yet
integrated into the rest of the system in any way, so you will have to
start it manually. This release includes a way to test messages by
dragging them from Evolution and dropping them on the application. Some

[037] - Hilbert II 0.03.02
 by m31 (http://freshmeat.net/users/m31/)
 Sun, Feb 25th 2007 23:16

Documentation
Education
Internet

About: The Goal of Hilbert II, which is in the tradition of Hilbert's
program, is the creation of a system that enables a working mathematician
to put theorems and proofs (in the formal language of predicate calculus)
into it. These proofs are automatically verified by a proof checker.
Because this system is not centrally administered and enables references
to any location on the Internet, a world wide mathematical knowledge base
could be built. Any proof of a theorem in this "mathematical web" could be
drilled down to the very elementary rules and axioms. To make it more than
a huge number of logical correct formulas, it also contains information in
"common mathematical language". Think of an incredible number of
mathematical textbooks with hyperlinks, and each of its proofs could be
verified by *Hilbert II*. For each theorem, the dependency of other
propositions, definitions, and axioms could be easily derived.

Changes: The goal of this release was validation. The LaTeX generation
transforms more information. For error tracking, the context information
is most importent. This information is now correctly built. The context
location can now also be found within a formula or term, so error tracking
of logical errors is easier now. Tracing works faster by asking the trace
level before creating new String objects.

[038] - HTTP extension for PHP 1.5.2
 by Michael Wallner (http://freshmeat.net/users/_mike_/)
 Sun, Feb 25th 2007 13:16

Internet :: WWW/HTTP
Software Development :: Libraries :: PHP Classes

About: The HTTP extension for PHP aims to provide a convenient and
powerful set of functionality for one of PHP's major applications. It
eases handling of HTTP URLs, dates, redirects, headers, and messages,
provides means for negotiation of clients' preferred language and charset,
as well as a convenient way to send any arbitrary data with caching and
resuming capabilities. It provides powerful request functionality if built
with CURL support. Parallel requests are available for PHP 5 and greater.

Changes: Bug #10151 (build fails dynamic linking on Mac OS X) has been
fixed. The "proxyhost" request option may be set to an empty string, which
lets curl ignore any environment settings. Request options may be unset by
passing NULL: $request->setOptions(array("option" => NULL));

 Sun, Feb 25th 2007 09:12

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content :: CGI Tools/Libraries

About: The goal of Pot (PHP Object Template) is to totally divide the
logic of a Web site from the design. Pot can be used by "common" people
just by writing some XML tags in the HTML code. It supports technologies
like Cascading Style Sheets, JavaScript, animated objects, and form data
checking. Using your favourite WYSIWYG editor (like Dreamweaver or
GoLive), you can create HTML pages where you place a tag wherever you need
and write the required Pot parameter and value tags. There are 41 objects
ready to be used.

Changes: This release has some bugfixes and initial support for AJAX
(Javascript and DOM management).

[061] - Putmail 1.4
 by rg3 (http://freshmeat.net/users/rg3/)
 Sun, Feb 25th 2007 09:43

Communications :: Email :: Mail Transport Agents

About: Putmail is a very lightweight MTA or SMTP client that may replace
the sendmail command when used by MUAs that lack SMTP support.

Changes: This release implements a check that detects failures when
attempting to use TLS authentication. In previous versions, this could
silently fail, and the password would be sent in clear text when the user
thought it was being sent in encrypted form. This shouldn't be a problem
if the user is sure of the server capabilities and has configured the
program properly, but an upgrade is highly encouraged. In addition, due to
a lack of demand, internationalization support has been removed.

About: PyGNUGK is a command line tool, a CGI script, and a set of Python
classes available as a Python module, which can connect to GNU
Gatekeeper's status port and return information about what's there. It can
currently report the list of registered endpoints and ongoing calls. When
launched as an authenticated CGI script, additional actions are possible
like disconnecting active calls.

Changes: The numbers of registered endpoints and active calls are now
visible in both the plain text, HTML, and XML outputs.

[064] - Qemudo 0.1.1
 by bugmenot (http://freshmeat.net/users/bugmenot/)
 Sun, Feb 25th 2007 00:15

System :: Emulators

About: Qemudo is a Web interface to QEMU, offering a way for users to
access and control multiple virtual machines (guest systems) running on
one or more remote physical machines (host systems). From the Web
interface, VMs can be created, started up, shut down, reset, and accessed.
Access to the VMs is done through a VNC applet that makes use of the VNC
protocol natively supported by QEMU 0.8.1 and later. Qemudo has been
primarily designed to function in a cluster environment, where its Web
interface gives a unified view on all the VMs running on a cluster of
physical machines.

Changes: Support was added for the new -vnc option syntax in QEMU 0.9.0. A
qemudorc shell script that launches QEMU is created by qd for every VM that
is started up. This gives users the possibility to manually edit this file
to tweak the options passed to QEMU. A Perl bug has been fixed in qsh:
sockname() was replaced with hostpath(). Installation documentation has
been improved.

About: RLPlot is a scientific plotting, charting, and drawing program.
Data is entered into a spreadsheet manually or by copy from a spreadsheet
program (Excel, KSpread, etc.) and pasted to RLPlot. Plots are created and
modified by a fully-interactive graphical user interface. RLPlot is fully
vector-oriented, ensuring high-quality outputs.

Changes: A bug has been fixed that caused RLPlot to crash during startup.
This bug was caused by a corrupted configuration file. If the error
persists, delete this file. The file, '.RLPlot', is found in the home
directory under Linux and in the UserProfile/ApplicationData folder under
Windows. More statistics have been added. Graphic text now accepts Unicode
characters using XML style, e.g. 'α'.

[071] - Simple persistence for Java 2.2.0
 by Robert (http://freshmeat.net/users/demonofthesystem/)
 Sun, Feb 25th 2007 09:22

Database :: API
Software Development :: Libraries :: Java Libraries

About: Simple persistence for Java is a full featured, powerful
object/relational persistence and query library. It has a unique
philosophy of simpleness and ease of use: it does not require config
files, annotations, code generation, code "enhancing", or any kind of
tools to be used, not even the database interface itself. It handles
simple Java beans and its query service returns lists. Despite its
simpleness, under the hood the library takes care of all the necessary
logic: transaction visibility, result list paging, keys and ids, table
creation/modification, class relations, inheritance/polymorphism, case
sensitiveness, and much more. It currently supports: Oracle, HSQLDB,
MySQL, and PostgreSQL.

Changes: A major scalability feature has been added: the library is now
capable of working in a distributed environment, such as load-balanced Web
server clusters. All the library nodes connected to the same database will
form a self-regulating, self-organizing, failure-tolerant network to
manage exclusive resources (such as locks, etc). The documentation and
site were updated accordingly.

[082] - Zero Install Injector 0.26
 by Thomas Leonard (http://freshmeat.net/users/tal197/)
 Sun, Feb 25th 2007 09:40

Internet
System :: Archiving :: Packaging
System :: Software Distribution

About: The Zero Install Injector makes it possible for users to install
software easily and without the need for root privileges. It takes the URL
of a program's interface description and chooses suitable versions of the
program and all of its dependencies (also identified by URLs) according to
the user's policy settings (eg. "stable", "testing", "minimal network use",
etc). The chosen versions are downloaded and cached and the program is run,
using environment variables to let it find the components.

Changes: Downloads can now be automatically and safely shared between
multiple users. Checking for new versions of programs happens in the
background, and only displays a notification if updates are available.
Solaris support has been improved by no longer requiring the GNU versions
of tar and cpio. Improvements to the GTK interface provide an easy way to
submit bug reports.
