System :: Systems Administration

About: Cft (pronounced sift) watches a system administrator as she makes
changes to a system. Its basic principle is heavily influenced by GNOME's
Sabayon. Instead of the desktop though, cft is focused on traditional
system administrators and how they maintain machines, mostly with command
line tools.

Changes: Many unneeded attributes have been removed from the generated
manifest. Previously finished sessions can now be resumed (with 'cft begin
-r SESSION'). The RPM package set has been pruned to only leaf packages;
packages that were updated/installed and depend on other packages that
were updated/installed during the session are not included in the
manifest.

About: The Enhanced TightVNC Viewer package is part of the x11vnc VNC
server project. It provides a native VNC viewer that takes advantage of
new features in x11vnc, e.g. cursor alpha blending and automatic SSL
tunnelling. Some features apply to any VNC server, e.g. automatic SSH
tunnelling. Another goal is to provide a package that conveniently bundles
everything needed for the user to have the enhanced viewer running quickly.
This includes pre-built binaries of the viewer and utility programs for
Windows and many Unix variants, and a GUI to configure and launch the
viewer. The short name for this project is "ssvnc", for SSL/SSH VNC
viewer.

Changes: For USB flash drive usage, creating a directory "Home" in the
top-level SSVNC directory will cause the VNC profiles and certificates to
be kept there instead of in $HOME. This way, the data follows the flash
drive. A configuration setting was added to work around older SSH
implementations that do not run a command when the "-t" option is
supplied.

that do not already contain a tag was fixed. A bug that would duplicate
TYER frames when setting new values was fixed. The reading/validation of
some rare MP3 headers was fixed. Encoding info is extracted from LAME MP3
headers. Genre names will now support "|" to allow for genres like
"Rock|Punk|Pop-Punk" and "!" for genres like "Oi!".

About: Viking is a GTK2-based GPS data editor and viewer. It can download
and show Terraserver maps, import and draw tracks and waypoints over them,

lines).

Changes: A small test release to prepare a new stable release. This

About: WordGenerator generates hypothetical words from specifications of
their syllable structure. The user specifies the maximum length of the
words in syllables, the abstract structure of syllables in the language
(in terms of such units as consonants and vowels or onsets and rhymes),
and the actual sounds that comprise each abstract class (e.g. the list of
vowels in the language); WordGenerator then generates the words that
conform to this specification. Such lists are useful to field linguists
exploring the vocabulary of a language, and to designers of artificial
languages.
