Multimedia :: Graphics :: 3D Modeling
Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: Analysis
About: The aim of auch is to visualize harmonics in musical recordings.
Many tools show the spectrum, but this tool focuses on one or two specific
octaves with an indication of the tonica (the key) and sub-dominant(IV) and
dominant(V). It also supports wavelet transformation and resampling to
further analyze and clean-up the recording. This way, notes, chords, and
harmonics in a musical piece become more clear. Another feature is that
this tool can compare outgoing audio (from a .wav file) with incoming
audio (microphone). This way, the effect of external filters can be
tested.
Changes: The rhythmic folding is a musical transformation based on
reflection. If correctly tuned, it can mask off-beat notes.

by DaveFX (http://freshmeat.net/users/davefx/)
Mon, May 14th 2007 10:40
Security :: Cryptography
System :: Systems Administration
About: gnoMint is a tool for easily creating and managing certification
authorities. It provides fancy visualization of all the pieces of
information that pertain to a CA, such as x509 certificates, CSRs, and
CRLs. gnoMint is currently capable of managing a CA that emits
certificates that are able to authenticate people or machines in VPNs
(IPSec or other protocols), secure HTTP communications with SSL/TLS,
authenticate and cipher HTTP communications through Web-client
certificates, and sign or crypt email messages.
Changes: This release allows defining policies for each Certification
Authority in the database, so all the new certificates signed by the CA
have common properties (uses, purposes, and validity time). It requires
SQLite3 for proper UTF-8 support. Due to this change, all the pre-0.1.4
databases must be converted to a new format. A conversion script is
included in the package.

[026] - Rats! 1.11.0
by Robert Grimm (http://freshmeat.net/users/rgrimmm/)
Mon, May 14th 2007 10:48
Software Development :: Code Generators
Software Development :: Compilers
About: Rats! is a parser generator for C-like languages (though currently
it only generates parsers in Java). It has been designed so that grammars
are concise and easily extensible. To this end, grammars are organized
into modules that can be easily changed by adding, removing, or modifying
alternatives in individual productions and composed with each other
through module parameters. Furthermore, it relies on ordered choices to
avoid ambiguities, supports syntactic predicates for unlimited lookahead,
and integrates lexing with parsing. Finally, it has extensive support for
automatically generating abstract syntax trees, thus greatly reducing the
need for explicit semantic actions.
Changes: This release includes significant new features and bugfixes.
Highlights of new features are more flexibility in declaring ASTs within
grammars through '
NodeName' markers, improved error checking and grammar
analysis facilities, and support for concrete syntax, i.e. the ability to
specify source code templates instead of programmatically building up AST
fragments.

[027] - Rule Set Based Access Control 1.3.3 (Stable)
by frealek (http://freshmeat.net/users/frealek/)
Mon, May 14th 2007 04:27
Security
About: Rule Set Based Access Control (RSBAC) is a Free Software security
extension for current Linux kernels. It is based on the Generalized
Framework for Access Control (GFAC) by Abrams and LaPadula and provides a
flexible system of access control based on several modules. All security
relevant system calls are extended by security enforcement code. This code
calls the central decision component, which in turn calls all active
decision modules and generates a combined decision. This decision is then
enforced by the system call extensions.
Changes: Many bugfixes and also many small improvements were made. The FD
xstat output looks nicer and uses 64-bit counters to avoid wrapping.
Debugging output has been improved in the UM module. libtool and
installation of language files in admin tools have been fixed. The sysrq
key "w" is now gone, so it is no longer possible to trigger the wake-up
through the sysrq key.

Mon, May 14th 2007 10:29
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Office/Business
About: Ryan's In/Out Board (formerly known as Whosin) is a simple and
quick Perl-driven Web-based in/out board for use on intranets and
extranets. Users can change their status by clicking their name or calling
the script with a name parameter, allowing for desktop shortcuts which give
single click "check-in/out" links. Custom and/or default comments can be
added to their status. No database system is required, you just need a Web
server and Perl. A script to check all staff out is also provided, which is
handy if called as an overnight cron job. It uses the Date::EzDate Perl
module.
Changes: Optional departments for users have been added. The resulting
board can be filtered to show only one team or department. Sorting by any
field in either direction is possible simply by clicking the field title.
Security checks are in place to increase data file integrity. Additional
refresh when changing to avoid a situation where auto-refresh occurs as a
user submits data. The code has been tidied up: now "use strict;" works.

[031] - Stunnix VBScript and ASP Obfuscator and Encoder 3.0
by Stunnix (http://freshmeat.net/users/stunnix/)
Mon, May 14th 2007 13:35
Internet
Software Development :: Code Generators
Software Development :: Compilers
About: Stunnix VBS-Obfus protects your VBScript code from potential
analysis, study, or reworking by unwanted parties. It's both an obfuscator
and encoder for the VBScript code. It converts the VBScript in raw .vbs
files, or in ASP or HTML pages into a highly obfuscated form, making it
extremely difficult to study, analyse, or reuse, while fully retaining
functionality of the original source code. It optionally adds expiration
and hostname checking. It has a lot of options to control all aspects of
code hiding, and has full support for all syntax constructs. It is
designed to be multi-module aware.
Changes: Obfuscation and encoding of scripts stored in UTF-8 have been
improved. Support has been added for mangling all characters aside from
markup in documents that embed vbscript (e.g. .html, .php, or .asp files)
to make them less readable. Support for language syntax has been improved.
Various improvements and fixes have been introduced into the Project
Manager GUI.

[032] - STX B+ Tree 0.8
by Timo Bingmann (http://freshmeat.net/users/tbingmann/)
Mon, May 14th 2007 04:21
Software Development :: Libraries
About: The STX B+ Tree package is a set of C++ template classes
implementing a B+ tree key/data container in main memory. The classes are
designed as drop-in replacements of the STL containers set, map, multiset,
and multimap, and follow their interfaces very closely. By packing multiple
value pairs into each node of the tree, the B+ tree reduces heap
fragmentation and utilizes cache-line effects better than the standard
red-black binary tree. The tree algorithms are based on the implementation
in Cormen, Leiserson, and Rivest's Introduction into Algorithms, Jan
Jannink's paper, and other algorithm resources. The classes contain
extensive assertion and verification mechanisms to ensure the
implementation's correctness by testing the tree invariants.
Changes: This release introduces the demonstration program wxBTreeDemo.
This program draws illustrations of the B+ trees constructed by the STX B+
Tree template classes. It allows the user to select different types of B+
tree instantiations: integer or string keys and different slot numbers.
The user may insert and erase key/data pairs from the tree and run
different search operations. The demo program uses the cross-platform
wxWidgets toolkit and can be compiled on Linux, Windows, and Mac OS X.

[040] - ZoneAdmin 0.1-Beta4
by Rudolph Bott (http://freshmeat.net/users/ZoneAdmin/)
Mon, May 14th 2007 04:42
Internet :: Name Service (DNS)
About: ZoneAdmin is a Web interface for the powerDNS name server using the
MySQL backend. It allows you to manage existing zones and add, remove, and
alter new ones, supports on-the-fly input validation, and allows comments
per zone and per record. Furthermore, it keeps a detailed history of
changes and allows you to temporary enable or disable zones without having
to remove them completely. New zones can use templates that contain
predefined records. It is designed to be used with one of Apache's
authentication methods.
Changes: Domainkeys are now supported in the TXT field. Whitespace is no
longer allowed for AJAX IN TXT. The AJAX check for IN AAAA no longer
fails. The Disable-Domain feature was broken in 0.1-Beta3 and has been
fixed. Errors are now prevented when editing records. A new error handling
framework is used. Slave zones are recognized and can not be edited.
