[002] - Another File Integrity Checker 2.10-1
by Gerbier Eric (http://freshmeat.net/users/gerbier/)
Wed, May 23rd 2007 11:13
Security
System :: Systems Administration
About: afick is another file integrity checker, designed to be fast and
fully portable between Unix and Windows platforms. It works by first
creating a database that represents a snapshot of the most essential parts
of your computer system. You can then run the script to discover all
modifications made since the snapshot was taken (i.e. files added,
changed, or removed). The configuration syntax is very close to that of
aide or tripwire, and a graphical interface is provided.
Changes: Support for syslog was added. The choice of database backend is
now dynamic on init. Checksum will no longer change atime if it is allowed
by the operating system. The post-install can use environment variables
(used on Windows). The afick_cron script is now compatible with old Bourne
syntax (ash). The auto-control was improved.

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content :: CGI Tools/Libraries
Multimedia :: Graphics :: Presentation
Office/Business
About: The Big Faceless PDF Library is a Java class library for creating
PDF documents. The Extended Edition offers the ability to create and edit
AcroForms, PDF's answer to the HTML form. Like HTML forms, PDF forms can
contain text boxes, radio buttons, and can call JavaScript functions. The
Extended Edition also includes a PDF reader for importing and editing,
along with FDF support, verification for digital signatures and text
extraction. Both variations offer full Unicode support, encryption,
embedded TrueType and Type1 fonts, barcodes, hyperlinks, and spot and
calibrated color.
Changes: The "viewer" package was replaced with the vastly improved
"viewer2". Two new PDFReader constructors were added, the
PDF.getRenderProgress and PDFParser.getWriteAsTIFFProgress methods, to
monitor how long these potentially long running tasks will take from
another thread. PagePainter.setPaintAnnotations() and
PagePainter.paintAnnotation() were added to allow annotations to be
painted separately from their parent page. A
PagePainter.setPageExtractor() method was added to run the text extraction
while rendering rather than having to do the two sequentially.

Software Development :: Debuggers
Software Development :: Libraries
About: Libcwd is a full-featured and well-documented library that assists
C++ developers with debugging their applications. It includes support for
ostream-based debug output, custom debug channels and devices, memory
allocation debugging, run-time sourcefile:linenumber information, and
demangled type names of variables. It is thread-safe.
Changes: A new configure option to compile the library with
-D_GLIBCXX_DEBUG has been added. A bug where a small overrun of an
allocated buffer with a size not divisible by four was not detected has
been fixed. This release compiles and works (again) with the current SVN
version of gcc (4.3).

[007] - COllaborative DEvelopment SHell 0.7.0
by Trump Coup (http://freshmeat.net/users/bourilkov/)
Wed, May 23rd 2007 17:08
About: The CODESH (COllaborative DEvelopment SHell) project provides an
automatic persistent logbook for sessions of personal command line work
by recording what and how is being done, for private use/reuse and for
sharing selected parts with collaborators. It is an intelligent shell
that automatically logs a user's command line (shell) session: commands,
scripts executed, output produced, changes to environment variables, alias
creation, and other information needed to recreate the session later.
Sessions are uniquely tagged and stored in local or distributed backend
repositories and can be extracted and reproduced at any time by the user
who created the session or by collaborators located anywhere in the world.
Changes: The CODESH core has been hardened. Robust and flexible handling
of different classes of shell commands. Alias handling has been improved,
especially in bash. stderr output is included in the log files. Repository
commands are protected if the user has not initialized the repository
location. This release has been tested on different platforms with tcsh
and bash. It requires Python 2.

[017] - Internet DJ Console 0.6.12
by Stephen Fairchild (http://freshmeat.net/users/psoriasis/)
Wed, May 23rd 2007 02:32
About: Internet DJ console is a graphical shoutcast/icecast client that
runs under GTK+ and the JACK audio connection kit. In short, it's an
Internet radio app for making a live radio show or podcast. Features
include two main media players with a crossfader, a jingle player,
microphone signal processing (compressor and noise gate), IRC track
announcements with X-Chat, an automatic stream shut-off timer, MP3 or Ogg
streaming and recording at various bit rates, aux input for connecting
external JACK aware applications, and audio level meters.

[022] - multitask 0.1.0
by Chris Stawarz (http://freshmeat.net/users/cstawarz/)
Wed, May 23rd 2007 19:08
System :: Networking
About: multitask allows Python programs to use generators (a.k.a.
coroutines) to perform cooperative multitasking and asynchronous I/O.
Applications written using multitask consist of a set of cooperating tasks
that yield to a shared task manager whenever they perform a (potentially)
blocking operation, such as I/O on a socket or getting data from a queue.
The task manager temporarily suspends the task (allowing other tasks to
run in the meantime) and then restarts it when the blocking operation is
complete. Such an approach is suitable for applications that would
otherwise have to use select() and/or multiple threads to achieve
concurrency.

[029] - radmind 1.8.1
by UMich RSUG (http://freshmeat.net/users/rsug/)
Wed, May 23rd 2007 13:57
Security
System :: Archiving :: Packaging
System :: Clustering/Distributed Networks
About: radmind is a suite of Unix command-line tools and a server designed
to remotely administer the file systems of multiple Unix machines. At its
core, radmind operates as a tripwire. It is able to detect changes to any
managed filesystem object, e.g. files, directories, links, etc. However,
radmind goes further than just integrity checking: once a change is
detected, radmind can optionally reverse the change. Each managed machine
may have its own loadset composed of multiple, layered overloads. This
allows, for example, the operating system to be described separately from
applications. Loadsets are stored on a remote server. By updating a
loadset on the server, changes can be pushed to managed machines.
Changes: This release fixes a bug where lapply -n would attempt to report
events to the server. ra.sh is using the echo binary for portability.
Multiple spelling mistakes in man pages have been corrected.

dependencies, is free of forced, confusing package management terminology
(like stow dir, target dir, package), and supports both absolute and
relative linking, linking into existing hierarchies, and access control
