[004] - BasKet Note Pads 1.0.2
by Sebien (http://freshmeat.net/users/Sebien/)
Sun, May 27th 2007 15:17
About: BasKet Note Pads is an application that provides several baskets
into which the user can drop all sorts of notes: rich text, links, images,
sounds, files, colors, application launchers, and more. Objects in the
baskets can be edited, copied, and rearranged. This application can be
used to quickly store Web objects (such as links, text, or images) or
notes, and it can also help clean up a clutered desktop. It is also useful
for collecting information for a report. The data in baskets can be shared
with co-workers by exporting them to HTML.
Changes: A maintenance release that is focused on optimizing speed and
solves a few issues: instantaneous "Filter as you Type", faster loading
time for the first "Filter all Baskets", faster text editing (no disk
access at every key press), enhanced link detection in text notes, and
focusing the basket when pressing Alt+Up and Alt+Down. As of this release,
development has stopped, and new developers are needed.

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Site Management
About: Blitz templates is a fast template engine written in C and compiled
as a PHP module. It started as a php_templates replacement, but developed
into much more. It is based on extensible template controllers (custom
view classes in PHP) and weakly-active templates (simple logic in HTML).
Benchmarks show that it is one of the fastest template engines for PHP,
even though it's not trivial and makes Web application closer to the MVC2
architecture model. It was designed for big Internet projects with a lot
of complex presentation logic.
Changes: Minor template parsing fixes were made (bugs 40 and 41).

rotate it, and crop it in many ways. You can also add borders, frames,
bevels, add of text labels and watermarks, or apply various graphical
effect filters. Security features and file management functions are
provided. The class can also work on local files, which is useful for
batch processing images online, and can circumvent open_basedir
restrictions.

now possible to set a background color for the pictures and to use
replacement tokens in the text labels. Some new cropping options have been
implemented.

Software Development :: Libraries
Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks
About: p-unit is a framework for unit testing and performance
benchmarking. As a unit test, it can run with a single thread or multiple
threads against the same test code. p-unit has an executor pool which can
accelerate the execution speed dramatically. As a perforamnce test

results in the form of plain text, image, and PDF file. Users can also
easily register their own reporters by implementing the p-unit event
listener.
Changes: This release supports an "Executor Pool", which can execute the
test suite in parallel. It improves the speed of running a test suite
dramatically. It makes sense for both single core machines and multi-core

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Indexing/Search
Software Development :: Libraries :: Perl Modules
About: Search::Xapian is a Perl XS frontend to the Xapian C++ search
library. It is a fairly complete wrapper: most features of the Xapian
library are made available for use from Perl. Xapian is a highly adaptable
toolkit that allows developers to easily add advanced indexing and search
facilities to their own applications. It supports the Probabilistic
Information Retrieval model as well as a rich set of boolean query
operators. It's fast and scalable to hundreds of millions of documents.
Changes: This release wraps Xapian 1.0.0. New features include Unicode
support, updated stemming algorithms (with new languages: Hungarian,
Romanian, and Turkish), a new and improved indexing strategy, improvements
to the remote backend (which now supports all backend features and works on
MS Windows), and new QueryParser features (ranges, pure NOT queries,
support for incremental searches). Flint supports using zlib to compress
tags in the record and termlist trees, and is now the default backend. A
small memory leak in handling of some C++ exceptions has been fixed.

will be blocked for further counts (10 minutes by default). Administration
(creation of counters, etc.) is done via a web frontend, which is password
protected. There's also a log, a small statistics page and a calendar that
shows the hits per day.
Changes: Windows Vista is included in statistics. Icewheasel is counted as
Firefox in statistics. Statistics now in include the last 24 hours, 7 days,
30 days, and 365 days. There is a new function to count without displaying
an image and exclude configurable user-agents from counting. There's a
bugfix concerning automatic log reloading.

[033] - SRESI 0.19.5 (Development)
by Priscus (http://freshmeat.net/users/priscus/)
Sun, May 27th 2007 03:52
Information Management :: Metadata/Semantic Models
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Browsers
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Indexing/Search
About: SRESI is a smart bookmark manager. It currently sports both a
command-line and a PHP interface. It works with both the standard
hierarchical trees and the new and fashionable tagged bookmarks. It was
developed as a way to interface both representation systems. SRESI can use
Del.icio.us, Mozilla, Opera, and XBEL bookmarks, and handles a few more
exports besides. Directories and tags are used equivalently, and the final
hierarchies are inferred from actual tag use.
Changes: The cloud system was fixed. A smattering of bugs were also fixed
all over the code. Some dead or redundant code was removed, though there
still remains work to be done. The portal folders are now referenced by
their tag set's hash code: this is faster and also ensures the folder's
identifier does not change when the tree is refreshed after an edit.

[034] - Systems of Ordinary Differential Equations 13 (RubySode)
by Dennis J. Darland (http://freshmeat.net/users/djdarland/)
Sun, May 27th 2007 19:30
About: Sode.rb generates a Ruby program to use long Taylor series to solve
systems of ordinary differential equations. It generates code to solve the
equations in Ruby. Using the Taylor series, estimates are made of the
location and order of poles. An effort is made to adjust H to control the
error. It has worked well in testing, but needs more testing as there are
so many possibilities.
Changes: Minir code cleanup. Some tests have been made more meaningful
(add, sub, mult, and div).
