[001] - AntiCutAndPaste 1.7
by Anders (http://freshmeat.net/users/acnp/)
Tue, May 29th 2007 00:45
Software Development :: Quality Assurance
Software Development :: Refactoring
Text Processing
About: AntiCutAndPaste is designed to search for text fragments that have
been copied and pasted in programming language source code or plain text.
It has been tested on sources from large C++, Pascal, Java, and C# (Mono)
projects. The algorithms used are very fast and can handle up to three
million C++ code lines in one minute. Minor modifications of code are
ignored during the search. Reports are sorted conveniently by the total
size of all similar fragments and there are many report customization
options.
Changes: Bugfixes and a synchronized Windows version.

[002] - Babelize 1.1.0
by Maik Broemme (http://freshmeat.net/users/babyface/)
Tue, May 29th 2007 22:37
Games/Entertainment
Games/Entertainment :: Real Time Strategy
Games/Entertainment :: Role-Playing
About: Babelize is a collection of localizations for Linux games. It
currently features French, German, Polish, and Spanish translations for
"Heroes of Might and Magic III", as well as French, German, and Spanish
translations for "Alpha Centauri - Alien Crossfire". The goal of the
project is to provide localizations for as many native Linux games as
possible.
Changes: There are several major updates in this release. The final
configuration file format is now used. Support was added for different
source and target files to every copy and patch function. Permission
handling was added. Babelize now supports multiple versions of the source
file to patch. The following new language packs were added: an Italian
version of "Heroes of Might and Magic III" and German, Italian, and
Spanish versions of "Rune".

Games/Entertainment
About: Banihstypos is a simple game to teach you typing quickly. It helps
you improve your typing by letting you type in a randomly selected word
which scrolls by on the screen at an increasing speed. If the word hits
the laser, you'll lose points.
Changes: This release fixes a small buffer overflow, an issue where the
first word was always the same, and an issue where counting of correctly
typed words was incorrect.

Communications :: Conferencing
Desktop Environment :: Tools
Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: Capture/Recording
About: Boxtream is both an audio and video encoder and streamer and an
assembly of audio and video hardware, forming a mobile video streaming
studio. It is designed to easily record and stream live presentations
including a presenter and synchronized slides, or slides only, or
presenter only, and was built to stream live courses over the Internet for
distance learning students. It supports and autodetects several brands and
models of video switchers. It can be entirely controlled remotely over
XML-RPC, and includes an X11 interface built with wxWidgets. By default,
it supports five different streaming and recording scenarios. The software
can still be used without most of the hardware included in the original
boxtream project.
Changes: This is the first release that fully supports custom made
scenarios, and this feature is now documented on the Web site with an
example. The handling of command line options is now smarter.
Multithreading support was improved, and now streaming pipelines are
correctly stopped. A lot of minor bugs were fixed all over the place. The
Web site contains real world examples of what is usually done with this
project, as a three hour streaming session cut into 14 parts.

Internet
System :: Monitoring
About: Honeyd is a small daemon that creates virtual hosts on a network.
The hosts can be configured to run arbitrary services, and their TCP
personality can be adapted so that they appear to be running certain
versions of operating systems. Honeyd enables a single host to claim
multiple addresses on a LAN for network simulation. It is possible to ping
the virtual machines, or to traceroute them. Any type of service on the
virtual machine can be simulated according to a simple configuration file.
Instead of simulating a service, it is also possible to proxy it to another
machine.
Changes: This version includes proper handling of ARP packets. It also
adds support for Mac OS X by automatically disabling kqueue and poll on
Mac OS X, so that Honeyd gets notified on bpf events. It's easier to
compile due to removed dependence on libdnsres; libevent's DNS support is
used instead. A more flexible configuration of proxy directive supports
hybrid honeypot environments.

[054] - StreamCruncher 1.14 Release Candidate
by Ashwin Jayaprakash (http://freshmeat.net/users/AshwinJ/)
Tue, May 29th 2007 10:26
Database :: Database Engines/Servers
Software Development :: Libraries :: Java Libraries
System :: Monitoring
About: StreamCruncher is an event processor. It supports a language based
on SQL that allows you to define "event processing" constructs like
sliding windows, time-based windows, partitions, and aggregates. Such
constructs allow for the specification of boundaries (some are time
sensitive) on a stream of events that SQL does not provide. Queries can be
written using this language, which in turn can be used to monitor streams
of incoming events. It also provides a feature similar to materialized
views. Joins and sub-queries are also supported to allow event
co-relation. A database is used underneath to do the heavy lifting.
Pattern matching or multi-stream correlation are also possible.
Changes: This release comes with a new feature/syntax to perform efficient
Self-Joins over Streams. Self-Joins are useful when the Events in a Window
have to be scanned or matched against Events from the same or other
Windows defined as part of the same Partition clause. The
StockPriceComparisonTest.java TestCase demonstrates the use of this new
syntax. More details are available in the "StreamCruncher Basics"
documentation.

other IPsec-based VPN products. The focus of the strongSwan project is on
strong authentication mechanisms using X.509 public key certificates and
optional secure storage of private keys on smartcards through a
standardized PKCS#11 interface. A unique feature is the use of X.509
attribute certificates to implement advanced access control schemes based
on group memberships.
Changes: IKEv2 can now handle multiple certificates issued to the same
peer ID. This allows for a smooth transition during certificate renewal.
IKEv2 also supports IPSec policies based on intermediate certification

to formats like XML or YAML, but due to its simplicity is much easier to
parse. The library includes an easy mechanism to send UDAT objects to
remote machines in order to do remote procedure calls similar to XML-RPC.
Changes: Feature enhancements were added, including a simple way to send
UDAT objects to remote machines in order to do remote procedure calls
similar to XML-RPC. The methods which have been declared deprecated in
version 1.3.0 are now replaced.
