[001] - amavisd-new 2.5.1
  by Mark Martinec (http://freshmeat.net/users/mmartinec/)
  Thu, May 31st 2007 11:15

Communications :: Email :: Filters

About: amavisd-new is a high-performance and reliable interface between
MTAs and one or more content checkers, including virus scanners, and/or
the Mail::SpamAssassin Perl module. It talks to an MTA via (E)SMTP or
LMTP, or by using helper programs. No timing gaps exist in the design,
which could cause a mail loss. It is normally positioned at or near a
central mailer, not necessarily where the user's mailboxes and final
delivery takes place.

Changes: This release adds checking of a number of archive members to
improve protection from runaway dearchivers. It fixes SQL quarantining of
mail with a null sender, and recognizes PostgreSQL error S8006. Parsing of
invalid header has been improved. Calling 'finish' on a SA message object
was added. A nonstandard SMTP status code 254 is no longer used, and
enforcing of option 8BITMIME is avoid even on 8-bit contents. Checking of
eval status was improved to recognize additional failure modes. Disabling
of MIME decoding and invoking of a file(1) utility has been made possible.
An AV entry for ArcaVir was added.

an email client, a telnet client, wget, DHCP, and dial-up PPP. It also
includes a small footprint GUI, and is able to run remote X (via network)
with as little as 4 MB RAM. BasicLinux is particularly suitable for old
laptops: it comes with PCMCIA capability and includes the MagicPoint
presentation program.

Changes: A major upgrade for the window manager (swm is replaced by jwm).
Significant improvements to calctool and the links browser. Sed has been
upgraded to the full version. The overall size of the distribution has
been reduced.

AMD-64/EM64T architectures. It runs on 64-bit AMD Athlon, Opteron,
Sempron, and Intel EM64T (Intel Extended Memory 64 Technology) based
servers and computers. The goal of this port is to mimic the user
experience of the Intel x86 distribution at its best. This port includes
the same software and configuration scripts found in slackware-current
tree.

Changes: This development release uses the latest stable kernel 2.6.21.3
with all major file systems (ext2, ext3, JFS, XFS, and ReiserFS) and IDE,
SCSI, and SATA controllers built in. lib-based IA32 emulation was included
in the testing directory. It also included GCC 4.1.2, glibc 2.5, binutils
2.17.50.0.15, a modularized X.org server version 1.3, KDE 3.5.7, XFce

[007] - Cobras 0.10
  by Piotr Pszczolkowski (http://freshmeat.net/users/PiotrPsz/)
  Thu, May 31st 2007 23:24

Software Development :: Build Tools
Text Editors :: Integrated Development Environments (IDE)

About: Cobras is a programming environment for Qt, and is written in Qt
itself. It has an integrated debugger (as a front-end for GDB), and is
very functional and helpful. It is fast and easy to use. It consists of
one binary file (plus an icon for the desktop). It does not create its own
files when working with a project, but uses only the original '.pro' file.

Changes: Automatic indentation was implemented. When the user types a "}",
the program automatically sets this character to its proper position (with
proper indentation of edited scope). New behavior of the key combination
Ctrl+Del was implemented. In an edited document, it is now possible to use
spaces as tabs (and this is now a default setting). A user can select
between tabs and spaces in the properties of a program. New behavior was
implemented for the Tab and Backspace keys.

  Thu, May 31st 2007 10:54

System :: Monitoring
System :: Networking :: Monitoring
System :: Systems Administration

About: collectd is a small daemon which collects system information every
10 seconds and writes the results in an RRD-file. The statistics gathered
include: CPU and memory usage, network interface traffic, and system
temperatures (using lm-sensors). In network mode, clients multicast their
values over the network to servers which write the RRD-files.

Changes: A buffer overflow in the ntpd plugin has been resolved, support
for Linux 2.4 in the disk plugin has been fixed, and large file support
(LFS) has been added.

[009] - Crossroads Load Balancer 1.43
  by Karel Kubat (http://freshmeat.net/users/karelk/)
  Thu, May 31st 2007 01:50

System :: Clustering/Distributed Networks
System :: Networking

About: Crossroads is a load balance and failover utility for TCP-based
services. It is a daemon program running in userspace and features
extensive configurability, polling of backends using "wakeup calls",
highly configurable dispatch modes of client requests to back ends,
detailed status reporting, "hooks" for special actions when backend calls
fail, support for "sticky" HTTP sessions, and more. It is
service-independent; it is usable for HTTP(S), SSH, SMTP, DNS, MySQL, etc.

Changes: This release adds #include and #define statements to the
configuration file syntax, so that configurations can be kept cleaner. The
daemon can optionally cache DNS entries, which is useful when host name
lookups of back-ends delay processing. Shared memory keys are computed
with a new algorithm, causing fewer collisions. A small parser test suite
was added.

[011] - drraw 2.2a4
  by Christophe Kalt (http://freshmeat.net/users/kalt/)
  Thu, May 31st 2007 10:29

About: drraw is a simple Web-based presentation front-end for RRDtool
that allows you to interactively build graphs of your own design. A graph
definition can be turned into a template which may be applied to many
Round Robin Database files. Unlike most other RRDtool front-ends, drraw
does not take care of collecting data and updating Round Robin database
files. Instead, it specializes in providing an easy means of displaying
collected data, making it a great complement to other RRDtool front-
ends.

Changes: This release brings a number of internal bug fixes, along with
yet another fix for an API change in newer RRDtool releases.

  by Conny F (http://freshmeat.net/users/Conny123/)
  Thu, May 31st 2007 13:33

Games/Entertainment

About: espgame.sh is a script designed to experiment with ESP powers in a
playful way. It might just as well be used as a guessing-game. Images can
be either guessed or predicted. Based on the user input during the game,
in the end a simple analysis expressed in percentages is calculated. On
www.supple-pixels.net there is an archive containing images with which to
play.

Changes: This version improves the generation of the overview image. If
the maximum number of images is exceeded, it now contains only the actual
number of images in the game instead of all images in the directory. It
has some minor feature enhancements.

[026] - jsgal 0.72
  by Andreas S. Krebs (http://freshmeat.net/users/krebs/)
  Thu, May 31st 2007 13:32

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Multimedia :: Graphics :: Presentation

About: jsgal is a dynamic Web-based gallery. However, rather than
generating the gallery pages on a server using scripts, it is implemented
in Javascript and DHTML and generates the pages in the client's browser.
No offline generation of the Web pages is required; only a list of images
has to be maintained, which allows easy updating and extending of
galleries. This allows you to host dynamic galleries on servers without
scripting support, or on local filesystems (e.g. CD-ROMs).

Changes: A bug with duplicate next/previous links for large galleries has
been fixed. Thumb gallery size calculation has been optimized.

[029] - mime4j 0.3
  by James PMC (http://freshmeat.net/users/jamesPMC/)
  Thu, May 31st 2007 02:05

About: mime4j provides a parser, MimeStreamParser, for e-mail message
streams in plain RFC822 and MIME format. The parser uses a callback
mechanism to report parsing events such as the start of an entity header,
the start of a body, etc. If you are familiar with the SAX XML parser
interface you should have no problem getting started with mime4j. The
parser only deals with the structure of the message stream and won't do
any decoding of base64 or quoted-printable encoded header fields and
bodies. This is intentional - the parser should only provide the most
basic functionality needed to build more complex parsers.

open by default and may be selected using tabs, and a lower panel, which
can only hold one window/program at a time. It uses a modified version of
the JUCE library (included), resulting in relatively few dependencies and
a fairly unique appearance.

Changes: This is the last release of the project. Various small

About: Vortex Library is a BEEP Core protocol implementation, following
the standard defined in RFC 3080 and RFC 3081. It has a clean and
easy-to-use API that allows you to write new application protocols very

it is being used at the data transport layer. However, Vortex Library can
be used independently of Af-Arch.

Changes: This release removed glib/gthread dependencies, implementing its
own thread abstraction layer supporting POSIX and Win32 backends. A
general profile filtering mechanism (profile masks) was implemented. The
xml-rpc-gen tool was fully tested and is now considered stable. A poll(2)
and epoll(2) I/O mechanism was integrated and is now selectable at
run-time (even during data transmission). Initial fully implemented TUNNEL
profile support was added: a BEEP proxy for all profiles layered on top of
BEEP. There were lots of memory and run-time improvements.

[057] - V_Sim 3.3.99-1 (Development)
  by Damien Caliste (http://freshmeat.net/users/dcaliste/)
  Thu, May 31st 2007 09:56

Scientific/Engineering :: Physics
Scientific/Engineering :: Visualization

About: V_Sim visualizes atomic structures such as crystals, grain
boundaries, molecules, and so on It can work with files either in binary
format or in plain text format. The rendering is done in pseudo-3D with
colored spheres to represent the atoms. The user can interact through many
functions to choose the view, the size of the atoms, their color, the
background color, the type of fog, and more. Moreover, V_Sim allows you to
export the view as images in GIF, PS, and other formats.

Changes: The most important changes are in the surface panel, since
iso-surfaces are now sensitive to the masking efect of planes. But other
new minor capabilities have been implemented, including multiple directory
browsing, Miller's indexes for plane orientation, per element masking
effect on nodes, and more.
