About: akkda is a simple network monitoring system designed for small and
medium size computer networks. Its purpose is to quick detect system or
network faults, and to display information about detected problems for the
administrator. It is designed as a pro-active network monitor. It does not
wait for information from any agents, systems, etc. It collects
information itself every minute (you can decrease this period to as little
as 1 second if needed). Almost all services of the monitored hosts are
discovered automatically.

About: AutoLaTeX is a tool for managing small to large sized LaTeX
projects. The typical AutoLaTeX input file is simply a series of variable
definitions in a Makefile for the project. This Makefile was automatically
generated by a provided Perl script. The user can easily perform all
required steps to do such tasks as preview the document or produce a PDF
file. AutoLaTeX will keep track of files that have changed and how to run
the various programs that are needed to produce the output. One of the
best features of AutoLaTeX is to provide translation rules to
automatically generate the figures which will be included into the PDF.

Changes: This version provides a LaTeX compilation process that supports
latex, pdflatex, and bibtex; scripts for automatic conversion to PDF of
figures from EPS, XFig, dia, XMI, SVG, Gnuplot, PNG.gz, JPEG.gz, and other
formats (with or without embedded TeX macros); and a LaTeX package
(autolatex.sty) which provides figure include commands.

About: Dar is a shell command that makes backup of a directory tree and
files. Its features include splitting archives over several files, CDs,
ZIPs, or floppies, compression, full or differential backups, strong
encryption, proper saving and restoration of hard links and extended
attributes, remote backup using pipes and external command (such as ssh),
and rearrangement of the "slices" of an existing archive. It can now run
commands between slices, encrypt archives, and quickly retrieve individual
files from differential and full backups. Dar also has external GUI like
kdar for Linux, thanks to the well documented API.

Changes: This release brings a fix in the native language support, brings
several speed optimizations, and provides backward access to the old
blowfish encryption implementation weakened by frequent IV collision. The
new blowfish implementation is kept unchanged.

About: Freedup uses filesystem links to eliminate duplicate files and thus
reduce the amount of used disk space within one or more file systems.
Freedup searches all given file system trees for identical files and links
them to the most frequently referenced inode or to the inode of the first
file tree. If the devices differ, a symbolic link is used instead of a
hard link. Symbolic links will not replace files when at least one of the
directory trees does not start with a "/" (unless overridden by the -s
option).

Changes: Two major issues have been fixed. First, if several large
directory trees were given, the memory allocation could be incorrect.
Second, links were shifted into one direction and later back to the
previous, which led to eternal loops. Links are now pointing to the more
often referenced one, and only in case of equal reference count to the one
with priority. A minor functional enhancement is the ability to enable user
and group comparison separately.

About: GrabCartoons is yet another comic-grabbing utility. It is modular,
and it is very easy to write modules for new comics. To avoid depriving
the comic Web sites from their hits, grabcartoons does not download a copy
of the images, but only generates a page with links to them.

Changes: Modules can now capture and display extra image attributes (for
example, a caption that appears when you hover the mouse over the image)
and individual titles for each episode, for those comics that have them.
Also, the output now uses CSS for defining its appearance, and should be
strict-HTML compliant. Finally, several modules have been updated.

About: mlocate is a new locate implementation. The "m" stands for
"merging", because updatedb reuses the existing database to avoid
rereading most of the file system, which makes updatedb faster and does
not trash the system caches as much. The locate(1) utility is intended to

GNU locate, when it does not conflict with slocate compatibility.

About: The OMPTL reimplements the algorithmic and numeric parts of the
Standard Template Library of C++ to take advantage of parallel computing
hardware such as Dual-Core and HyperThreading processors. The
parallelization is done with the OpenMP API. The range of data is
partitioned, and then the computation is executed in parallel.

Changes: Detection of iterator types and traits was improved.
Parallelization of accumulate() was improved.

About: Pantry is a command line nutrient analysis program. It will help
you track your food intake and analyze recipes for their nutrient content.
Because it works entirely from the command line, it is very fast to use,
powerful, and flexible.

Changes: The --edit option was changed so it works correctly with plain
text data files. The file format was changed to save disk space and
memory; however, this makes Pantry native files that Pantry 19 uses
incompatible with earlier versions. If users report this as a problem,
then the author intends to write a converter. This release also includes
minor bugfixes and improvements to error messages.

Web-based "quota" monitor made available by ISPs. These pages can contain

happens on a date set by the ISP. This is what makes up the used quota. It

About: xSite generates static XHTML and CSS Web albums from image
directories, making use of JPEG/EXIF comments in the images instead of
external databases. It will also generate an RSS 2.0 feed for the
resulting album. xSite is not a photo management tool by itself, so must
use something else for tagging, editing, and organizing your images. The
project's goals are simplicity, ease of use, and standards compliance in
the output.

Changes: After a re-run, images that have been deleted from the original
directory are now removed from the album as well. Many sanity checks and
more meaningful error messages are now used. A bug which caused Internet
Explorer not to show images properly has been fixed. An RSS generation bug
(which occurred when re-indexing an unmodified old album) has been fixed.
Relative pathnames work now.
