[001] - AgileWiki 0.8.7 (CowDb)
  by Bill la Forge (http://freshmeat.net/users/laforge49/)
  Tue, Dec 25th 2007 02:35

Database
Documentation
Information Management

About: AgileWiki is a program that explores new knowledge representation.
It is an attempt to implement, at least in part, Norm Kashdan's Rolonic
Theory, a profoundly different approach to time and knowledge
representation. CowDb is a high-speed object store over which the next
generation of AgileWiki will be written.

Changes: A bug where an exception was raised when forking and the index
has multiple levels was fixed. Range iterators were implemented for
tables. Transactions now have the same execution environment as methods on
a persistent object. Deep copies now work at any level on objects held by
an index. Large tables are implemented using b-trees.

Communications :: File Sharing
Information Management
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content

About: Ampache is a Web-based audio file manager. It allows you to view,
edit, and play your audio files via the Web. It has support for playlists,
artist and album views, album art, random play, playback via HTTP with
on-the-fly transcoding and downsampling, vote based playback, playback via
MPD and Icecast, an integrated Flash player, and per-user themes and song
play tracking. You can also link multiple Ampache servers together using
XML-RPC. Ampache supports gettext translations and has full translations
into many languages.

Changes: This version flushes out the last of the missing features from
the 3.3.x branch and includes some massive improvements to the API.
Numerous Localplay and Browser related bugs have been fixed. There are
also noticeable performance increases across the bar and many other
miscellaneous bugfixes.

[006] - CrissCross 0.6.6
  by moz (http://freshmeat.net/users/mozillagodzilla/)
  Tue, Dec 25th 2007 22:40

Software Development :: Libraries
Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks

About: CrissCross is a small cross-platform C++ library for console and
file I/O, fast data structures, CPU identification (CPUID), and sockets
(TCP and UDP). The main goal is to provide the ability to write a program
using identical calls on the major platforms (Windows, Linux, FreeBSD,
OpenBSD, NetBSD, and Mac OS X) without needing to rewrite code. CPUID is
only currently supported on Linux and Windows running on x86 processors.
There is also theoretical support for IA-64 and x64 processors in 64-bit
mode, but only 32-bit mode has been tested.

Changes: Visual Studio 2008 support added. CPUID now detects AMD cache
descriptors. The ConvertToDArray and ConvertIndexToDArray functions were
optimized, so the deprecation notice was removed. Stopwatch was fixed on
FreeBSD, NetBSD, and OpenBSD. AVLTree, SplayTree, ShellSort,
InsertionSort, and BubbleSort were added (the last two for educational
purposes only). A basic HashTable implementation was added. AVLTree,
RedBlackTree, and SplayTree have close-to-identical (if not perfectly
identical) APIs. Some "using namespace" statements that were causing
hard-to-detect errors were cleaned up. Many minor fixes were made.

Games/Entertainment
Games/Entertainment :: Arcade
Games/Entertainment :: Multi-User Dungeons (MUD)

About: Deliantra is a client for Deliantra game servers. It offers an
intuitive user interface for exploring the vast game world, a persistent
minimap, powerful macros and keymaps, dialog-based NPC interaction, and
easy configuration for the skill, spell, and item system. It is based on
Perl, SDL, and OpenGL for high performance on modern systems, and works on
both Unix and Windows. Ports to other platforms should be very easy and are
underway.

Changes: Some important fixes were made in the item animations and GUI
code, along with an API update to a more recent EV version. The
documentation received some minor improvements. Image loading now uses
less CPU.

[008] - eINIT 0.25.3
  by jyujin (http://freshmeat.net/users/jyujin/)
  Tue, Dec 25th 2007 14:37

System :: Boot :: Init

About: eINIT is an alternative init system. It's quite fast, since it can
potentially be used without the help of any scripting at all, but it is
still flexible and extremely modular. The focus is on speed and
parallelisation, mostly with embedded devices and low-downtime servers in
mind, and benchmarks do suggest that it's doing a fairly good job at that.
It compiles cleanly (and should thus work, provided someone writes
appropriate modules) on Linux, FreeBSD, and Darwin/Mac OS X.

Changes: This version does some more caching, fixes some memory leaks,
adds support for psplash, usplash, and exquisite, and hopefully fixes some
other issues with the module ordering. Additionally, this version supports
modules written in Scheme instead of a weird XML/sh syntax. Modules
written in Scheme tend to be much faster, and Guile (the scheme
interpreter used) isn't that much bigger than bash.

[028] - Texpipeline 0.1
  by Volker Grabsch (http://freshmeat.net/users/vog/)

Text Processing :: Filters
Text Processing :: Markup :: TeX/LaTeX
Utilities

About: Texpipeline allows the conversion of (La)TeX documents with simple
filter pipes such as "cat input.tex | tex2pdf > output.pdf". It removes
the hassle of running (la)tex again and again, leaving lots of auxiliary
files in the current directory. This is especially useful for programs
which create LaTeX files automatically and just want to present the PDF
output to the user.

[029] - The Mana World 0.0.24
  by Bjørn Lindeijer (http://freshmeat.net/users/bjorn81/)
  Tue, Dec 25th 2007 06:21

Games/Entertainment :: Role-Playing

About: The Mana World (TMW) is a serious effort to create an innovative
free and open source MMORPG. It uses 2D graphics and aims to create a
large and diverse interactive world. The game aims to be a unique place
for people to interact not only by fighting each other but to play life,
form a community within the community, or just simply chat. Although the
game is never-ending and a linear story cannot be applied, it should have
enough background to describe and predefine tribes, kingdoms, and the
environment overall. Fullfilled quests should lead to certain events
depending on them being solved. Quests should also encourage teamwork.

Changes: This version comes with many requested features like the ability
to define your own key settings, better handling of connection loss,
trimming of chat messages, resizable buy/sell dialogs, and a lot of
bugfixes. Other notable additions are support for female-specific hair
styles and XP-gaining notification. On the technical side of things, this
version brings support for dynamic sprite recoloring (currently only used
for the different hair colors), and loaded resources are now no longer
instantly thrown away when no longer used, which should reduce hiccups due
to resource loading.

Database :: API
Office/Business :: Financial :: Investment

About: The trading-shim is a database driven connector API that provides a
persistent store SQL backend database, translates operations to and from
the Interactive Brokers Java TWS API. It can act as an interpreter for
commands, and permits downstream clients to access several worldwide
securities markets and exchanges (stocks, options, futures, bonds, Forex)
for "tick" data and history (intraday, and EoD). It also allows clients to
supervise trades of securities and more.

Changes: Bugs were fixed in news and open orders message parsing. This
daily release is much to be preferred to others from earlier this month.

Education
Games/Entertainment :: Turn Based Strategy

About: TuxMathScrabble challenges young people to construct compound
equations and consider multiple abstract possibilities. There are four
skill levels for practice, from basic addition and subtraction through
multiplication and division. This software includes a data recorder
interface for student performance assessment.

Changes: A configurable parameter was added that reduces the number of
possible combinations considered by the computer player, and thereby
improves performance on older, slower machines. The tile style was
simplified, and there are various other final touches.

  Tue, Dec 25th 2007 10:51

Office/Business :: Financial

About: wallstreet9 is a small home banking application that uses
HBCI4Java for HBCI functionality. It is not intended to become a

for your HBCI account or as a demonstration of how to use HBCI4Java.

Changes: This release adds support for RDH-2 key files and changes some
