[001] - AgileWiki 0.8.9 (CowDb)
  by Bill la Forge (http://freshmeat.net/users/laforge49/)
  Sun, Dec 30th 2007 05:15

Database
Documentation
Information Management

About: AgileWiki is a program that explores new knowledge representation.
It is an attempt to implement, at least in part, Norm Kashdan's Rolonic
Theory, a profoundly different approach to time and knowledge
representation. CowDb is a high-speed object store over which the next
generation of AgileWiki will be written.

Changes: A bug where changes weren't being saved was fixed. The context
flaw on read only objects was fixed. A well known table replaces the
branch table and every index has a well known table. Objects have
pathnames by which they can be located. Handles can also use pathnames.

Information Management :: Document Repositories
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Indexing/Search

About: cd2browse is a menu creation program able to make menus out of a
directory tree. It indexes all documents and also provides an offline,
full-text search engine with JavaScript. CD2Browse helps you to publish
documentation on CD/DVD in an easy way.

Changes: Messages are now generally in English. The "IndexOption
SuppressDescription" directive was added into .htaccess to omit the
extraction of PDF titles from PDF files, when the title tag is not
sensible. The -x option was added, which globally switches off the PDF
title extraction. "IndexIgnore" in .htaccess will now work with individual
files, and also with wildcards, like in Apache. IndexIgnore and
SuppressDescription are now also valid for sub-directories inside the
directory where .htaccess is found. The highest directory level is now
called "home" and is linked with the welcome.html page.

[026] - OpenBSD Network Shell 20071229
  by Chris Cappuccio (http://freshmeat.net/users/chrisc/)
  Sun, Dec 30th 2007 01:03

System :: Networking
System :: Shells

About: Nsh is intended to handle configuration for interfaces, bridging,
routing, packet filtering, NAT, and ISAKMP. It presents the user with a
vaguely Cisco-like interface. It also gives the user access to system
information and diagnostics. Nsh replaces the userland commands which
handle these functions, and talks directly to the OpenBSD kernel for most
functions.

Changes: This release is only for OpenBSD 4.2-current users. It won't
compile on 4.2-release or earlier. It now allows users to add multipath
routes, improves txpower support, and removes all KVM access in favor of
sysctl (a major cleanup which fixes bugs and makes a bit of code easier to
use in the future, especially for IPv6). It adds "who" and "flush user" to
the main level and "timeslot" and "syncpeer" commands to the interface
level.

  Sun, Dec 30th 2007 01:06

Software Development :: Libraries
System :: Logging

About: Pantheios is a C/C++ logging API library. It offers an optimal
combination of complete type-safety, very high efficiency, genericity, and
extensibility. It is simple to use and extend, highly portable (platform
and compiler independent), and it upholds the C tradition of only paying
for what you use. Pantheios supports logging of message statements of
arbitrary complexity, consisting of heterogenous types. Pantheios supports
filtering of log messages based on severity level.

Changes: This is a compatibility-release to force use of STLSoft 1.9.16,

[034] - Space Maze 1.1.2
  by Ryo Ichinose (http://freshmeat.net/users/riorio/)
  Sun, Dec 30th 2007 16:51

Games/Entertainment

About: Space Maze is a shooting game in which you'll have to go around
several mazes built in space to save our galaxy from an evil alien named
"Fortress". To get to the place of Fortress, you must collect three keys
to open the door. Keys are located and guarded in three mazes each.

Changes: configure may have failed when you use a Linux distribution on
which X is not installed in an X specific directory (e.g. /usr/X11R6). The
configure script is fixed to avoid this problem.

[035] - Spyrius 1.1.4
  by Mark Lindner (http://freshmeat.net/users/mesmerism/)
  Sun, Dec 30th 2007 05:30

About: Spyrius is a multithreaded superdaemon that provides TCP
connectivity to services that are implemented as loadable modules
("plug-ins"). The daemon was designed with extensibility, ease-of-use, and
performance in mind. It was implemented on Solaris 2.x but should be
generally portable to other POSIX systems. Spyrius is a prototype and is
not a fully-implemented, release-quality package; it is made available in
the hopes that it may prove to be useful in other open source projects.

Changes: A build error caused by use of a deprecated macro was fixed.

[036] - sshutout 1.0.5
  by Bill DuPree (http://freshmeat.net/users/wdupre1/)
  Sun, Dec 30th 2007 19:54

Security

About: sshutout is a daemon that periodically monitors log files, looking
for multiple failed login attempts via the Secure Shell daemon. The daemon
is meant to mitigate what are commonly known as "dictionary attacks," i.e.
scripted brute force attacks that use lists of user IDs and passwords to
effect unauthorized intrusions. The sshutout daemon blunts such attacks by
creating firewall rules to block individual offenders from accessing the
system. These rules are created when an attack signature is detected, and
after a configurable expiry interval has elapsed, the rules are deleted.

Changes: This release fixes "Invalid User" detection (again). It fixes a
segfault when parsing the config file with an alternate output log file
name.

[040] - ucommon 1.3.0
  by David Sugar (http://freshmeat.net/users/davidsugar/)
  Sun, Dec 30th 2007 09:26

Software Development :: Libraries

About: UCommon is a lightweight C++ library to facilitate using C++ design
patterns even for very deeply embedded applications, such as for systems
using uClibc along with POSIX threading support. For this reason, UCommon
disables language features that consume memory or introduce runtime
overhead. UCommon introduces some design patterns from Objective-C, such
as reference counted objects, memory pools, and smart pointers. UCommon
introduces some new concepts for handling of thread locking and
synchronization.

Changes: Introduction of dynamically mutex managed guard regions to
protect arbitrary objects without having to embed per-object initialized
mutexes, as well as an auto pointer based template class to automatically
manage the scope of mutex protected memory. Conditional locking has been
separated into scheduling access, and rewritten to support recursive share
access to simplify API use cases and to optimize scheduling of read and
write threads. Closure of remaining pthread functions into portable
threading for full mingw32/w32 portability.
