[001] - AgileWiki 0.9-beta (CowDb)
  by Bill la Forge (http://freshmeat.net/users/laforge49/)
  Fri, Jan 4th 2008 23:52

Database
Documentation
Information Management

About: AgileWiki is a program that explores new knowledge representation.
It is an attempt to implement, at least in part, Norm Kashdan's Rolonic
Theory, a profoundly different approach to time and knowledge
representation. CowDb is a high-speed object store over which the next
generation of AgileWiki will be written.

Changes: A bug in deep copies was fixed - self references are now copied
correctly. You can now block and unblock updates to a database.

Information Management :: Document Repositories
Information Management :: Records Management
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content

About: Ajatus is a CRM that runs as a local AJAX Web application on your
own computer. It uses the CouchDb object database for data storage and
enjoys a wide range of plug-in and replication possibilities.

Changes: An issue with tag duplication when replicating with other users
was fixed. Auto-saving was made more usable.

  by Nathan Bubna (http://freshmeat.net/users/nbubna/)
  Fri, Jan 4th 2008 22:24

Software Development :: Libraries :: Java Libraries

About: Apache VelocityTools provides servlets and tools for rapid, clean,
MVC Web development with Velocity, tools for using Velocity with the Struts
1 framework, and a set of generic tools to help with any Velocity project.

Changes: The configuration system and core infrastructure were overhauled.
Everything is more flexible, easy, and powerful now. A number of new tools
and new capabilities were implemented all around, including
VelocityViewTag for using Velocity in JSP.

[004] - Asymptote 1.38
  by John Bowman (http://freshmeat.net/users/jcbowman/)
  Fri, Jan 4th 2008 17:32

Education
Multimedia :: Graphics :: Editors :: Vector-Based
Scientific/Engineering

About: Asymptote is a powerful descriptive vector graphics language for
technical drawing, inspired by MetaPost but with an improved C++-like
syntax. It provides for figures the same high-quality level of typesetting
that LaTeX does for scientific text. Asymptote is a programming language as
opposed to just a graphics program. It can exploit the best features of
script (command-driven) and graphical user interface (GUI) methods.
High-level graphics commands are implemented in the language itself,
allowing them to be easily tailored to specific applications.

Changes: For perspective projections, non-uniform rational B-splines
(NURBS) are approximated by adding additional control points to Bezier
curves. Inline PDF movies can be generated directly within LaTeX files.
The xasy diagnostic console should now work reliably on all platforms.
This release features alternative arrow styles, pen arguments for the
flowchart block routines, and improved graph and interpolation array
diagnostics. The axes routines now take optional xlabel, ylabel, and
zlabel arguments defaulting to empty strings. A patch is included for the
Asymptote backend for pstoedit-3.45.

[009] - BloodsPilot Server 1.4.2
  by Kristian Söderblom (http://freshmeat.net/users/ksoderbl/)
  Fri, Jan 4th 2008 10:18

Games/Entertainment :: Arcade

About: BloodsPilot Server is an optimized server for a 2D space game. It
is a new version of a classic Unix game, XPilot. It features a novel,
flicker free, high FPS view of the game, while preserving the original
game physics and playability. The server is dedicated to running maps
without extra items, instead focusing on running maps like "Blood's
Music", where ship control skills, teamplay and tactics matter most. To
play the game, the user must have an XPilot client to connect to the
server.

Changes: This version reintroduces recoil from shots and reprogramming of
lock banks. In addition, it tries to remove view tremors that occur when a
player joins the game. The HTML ranking page supports Q3A / Enemy Territory
style color nicks; the whole server and protocol don't support these
completely yet.

About: LCD-Linux is a Linux software abstraction layer to drive LCD
alphanumeric displays. It features complete VT102 console emulation and
aims to be as general and flexible as possible. It consists of two kernel
modules, lcd-linux and the display driver. Currently, only the Hitachi

written.

Changes: This release features improved VT102 emulation in order to use
ncurses directly on the display. The routines implementing text scroll
have been redesigned. The other big feature is the implementation of
display attributes for displays supporting character attributes (boldface,
inverted video, colors, etc.). As usual, some minor code cleanup and
optimization has been performed.

About: makeself is a small shell script that generates a self-extractable

About: SymPy is a symbolic manipulation package, written in pure Python.
Its aim is to become a full featured CAS in Python, while keeping the code
as simple as possible in order to be comprehensible and easily extensible.
Currently, Sympy has only around 1600 lines of code (including comments),
and its capabilities include basic arithmetics, basic simplification,
series expansion, functions (exp, ln, sin, cos, tan, etc.),
differentiation, integration (currently it can do only very simple
integrals), basic substitution, arbitrary precision integers and
rationals, standard (Python) floats, basic complex numbers, and symbolic
limits.

Changes: The latex printer has been rewritten, preview now uses a built-in
pyglet instead of pygame, square root denesting has been implemented, a
parser of simple Mathematica expressions has been added, the TeXmacs
interface has been written, SymPy objects should work in numpy arrays now,

Desktop Environment :: File Managers
Information Management :: Metadata/Semantic Models
System :: Filesystems

About: Tagsistant is a semantic filesystem for Linux and BSD kernels. It
uses directories as tags and allows file tagging by simply putting files
inside desired tag directories. The path you are walking by is your query,
e.g. tagsistant/tag1/AND/tag2/OR/tag3/AND/tag2/. Being a low level
interface, a filesystem can be instantly used by shell users, file
managers, or CGI. A plug-in architecture is under development to add
autotagging functionality for common files like .mp3, .ogg, .jpeg, .html,
and .xml. A transparent ontology engine is also planned to allow users
create a relationship schema between directories by moving one inside the
other.

Changes: Plugin support was added with example plugins for auto-tagging
files. There can be no duplicated tags in queries. Some SIGSEGV bugs were
resolved.

Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: Conversion

About: Zak allows you to select one or more MP3 files and convert them
into a single MP3, MP4, M4A, or M4B file. The primary use for Zak is audio
books. Most audio books are distributed in several files, usually one per
chapter. Converting these files into a single .m4b allows one to take
advantage of the iPod's bookmarking features.

Changes: The following features work: selecting MP3 files, drag and drop
reordering of MP3 files, selecting an output file, processing input files
into a single output file, selection of format, bitrate, and mode,
metadata, program locations, detection of the sample rate of incoming
files, and the ability to set the sample rate of an output file.
