[002] - avidemux 2.4.0
  by Moritz Barsnick (http://freshmeat.net/users/barsnick/)
  Sat, Jan 5th 2008 13:13

Multimedia :: Video :: Non-Linear Editor

About: Avidemux is a graphical tool to edit videos. It can open AVI,
openDML, MPEG, Nuppelvideo, and BMPs. Most common codecs are supported
(M-JPEG, MPEG, DivX, Xvid, huffyuv, WMA, etc.) thanks to libavcodec and
libmpeg2. Video can be edited, cut, appended, filtered
(resize/crop/denoise), and re-encoded to either AVI (MPEG4/MJPEG) or MPEG
1/2. The Spidermonkey Javascript engine is used to give powerful scripting
capabilities.

Changes: Support was added for mkv, m2ts, and flv files and for DV output.
The MP4, MOV, and 3GP readers were rewritten. The profiles for PSP and iPod
were improved. Video filters can now be loaded as external plugins. A Yadif
filter was implemented. Many other improvements were made, and many bugs
were fixed.

About: btn4ws is a GIMP plugin for generating Web site buttons. It aims to
provide all functionality of btn4ws.pl while supporting more modern GIMP
versions and providing a nicer user interface.

Changes: This is a port of the existing btn4ws.pl to gimp-python. The new
version supports Gimp 2.4 and features a new GtkAssistant GUI (which
requires GTK >= 2.6 and PyGTK >= 2.10). All features of the Perl versions
are available.

[004] - Bubbling Load Monitor Applet 2.0.8 (Gnome 2)
  by Walles (http://freshmeat.net/users/walles/)
  Sat, Jan 5th 2008 12:14

Desktop Environment :: Gnome
Scientific/Engineering :: Visualization
System :: Monitoring

About: The Bubbling Load Monitor (or "Bubblemon" for short) is a system
load monitor for the GNOME panel. It looks like a vial containing water.
The water level indicates how much (electronic) memory is in use. The
color of the liquid indicates how much swap space is used. The amount of
bubbles reflects the system CPU load. A message in a bottle indicates
there is unread mail. A reed-like graph shows network load. On multi-core
systems the CPU with the highest load will bubble in the middle, and the
others on the sides, so it's possible to see how well load gets
distributed between CPUs.

Changes: Network interface detection was changed to use ioctl() rather
than guessing what interfaces are available. Some phrasing changes were
made to better match other GNOME applets.

Education
Multimedia :: Sound/Audio
Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: Editors

About: Canorus is a cross-platform music score editor. It supports an
unlimited number and length of staffs, polyphony, MIDI playback of written
notes, chord markings, lyrics, and a number of import and export filters to
many formats like MIDI, MusicXML, ABC Music, MUP, PMX, MusiXTeX, and
LilyPond. It features multiple viewports of the same score, scripting
support, score source view, and a fast and intuitive UI. It is based on
Qt4, uses CMake as a project management tool, swig for scripting/macros
integration (primary script languages are Ruby and Python), and the cross
platform rtmidi library for MIDI playback. It is the official successor to
NoteEdit.

Changes: A new archive file format was implemented. Several new features
were added but are not fully implemented yet: MIDI export, printing,
playback of marks, and saving and loading of marks.

can be driven using the keyboard alone or with the mouse.

Changes: This version can work with clisp/new-clx. Matching parentheses
are shown in the query string window. Better handling of configure event
notification allows a speed up in windows' adaptation to a group.

[009] - Das Schaefchen 0.4.0
  by Guido (http://freshmeat.net/users/guidoreina/)
  Sat, Jan 5th 2008 23:15

Internet :: Proxy Servers
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: HTTP Servers

About: Das Schaefchen is a lightweight HTTP server and proxy for Unix
platforms. It supports the minimum requirements of the HTTP/1.1 protocol
and virtual hosts, basic authentication (which can be used to protect
either files or directories), directory listing, byte ranges, and reverse
proxy. It is an event-driven server that runs as a single process with a
single thread using non-blocking I/O. It uses epoll as the event
notification mechanism to multiplex control between active connections.

Changes: A rule system has been implemented. When an incoming request for
one of the virtual hosts is received, it goes through the set of rules to
see which one matches, depending on three criteria: file extension, path,
or method. When a rule matches, it takes the rule's action, which can be
either to handle the request locally or to forward it to the backends of
the rule, acting as a reverse proxy. Now you can configure for each host
whether the directory listing will be enabled and whether it must log the
requests. A couple of bugs were fixed.

Multimedia :: Graphics :: 3D Modeling
Multimedia :: Graphics :: 3D Rendering

About: Moonlight|3D is a modeler for three-dimensional art. It aims to
support mesh-, NURBS-, and Bezier curve-based modeling. It's a redesign of

Changes: In this release, Moonlight|3D starts to support true object
instancing. Newly introduced dock widgets allow nearly free rearrangement
of elements in the application's main window. Also, some small changes
have been made to tools to smooth the program's overall workflow. Finally,

Information Management
Information Management :: Issue Tracking
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content :: Wiki

About: Nurpawiki is a personal information manager (PIM) application that
combines a wiki, a to-do list, and a simple scheduler to help you get
organized. It aims to ease note taking and action planning. Actions
(to-dos) are always associated with notes or plans (wiki pages). The
application will be extended for multiple users in the future to help
organizing small team development.

Changes: Read-only access was added, allowing users who are not logged in
to view the site content but not to modify it. A moved task can be
highlighted in the to-do list if it's been moved up or down in priorities.
Connection pooling was added. Less database queries are needed during page
loads with many to-dos. If the database server has been restarted while
Nurpawiki has been running, an attempt is made to retry database
connections. Login screen problems in issue 40 will be automatically fixed
by the upcoming Ocsigen 0.9.5.

xCHM theme-friendly.

Changes: The Normalize() code was fixed for Windows CHM files. A "Cannot
display document in some encoding" error was fixed. ENTER now works in the
bookmarks list. The Romanian and German translations were updated and a
Belarusian translation was added. The program no longer initializes locale
