[001] - AgileWiki 0.10.3 (CowDb)
  by Bill la Forge (http://freshmeat.net/users/laforge49/)
  Sat, Jan 12th 2008 16:04

Database
Documentation
Information Management

About: AgileWiki is a program that explores new knowledge representation.
It is an attempt to implement, at least in part, Norm Kashdan's Rolonic
Theory, a profoundly different approach to time and knowledge
representation. CowDb is a high-speed object store over which the next
generation of AgileWiki will be written.

Changes: Lists now support key changes. This is a list of key/value pairs,
but if no key is provided then an ascension number is used.

  Sat, Jan 12th 2008 16:06

Database
Education
Information Management

About: Aigaion is a Web-based shared bibliography manager built on
PHP/MySQL. It is based on the BibTeX format, but has support for other
formats as well. Some of its key features are extensive support for
organizing a bibliography in a topic structure, personal and public
annotations on each publication, multi-user support, easy import/export,
and an intuitive user interface.

Changes: Publication edit problems when changing publication type were
fixed. Install and migration scripts were created for easy setup and
migration from older versions. Several UI inconsistencies were corrected.

About: Channelflow is a direct numerical simulator for incompressible
Navier-Stokes channel flow, written in C++. It simulates fluid flow in a
rectangular box, with no-slip boundary conditions on the upper and lower
surfaces of the box, and periodic boundary conditions in the stream and
spanwise directions. Channelflow uses a spectral discretization in spatial
directions (Fourier x Chebyshev x Fourier) and finite-differencing in time,
on primitive variables (3D velocity and pressure).

  Sat, Jan 12th 2008 16:09

Software Development :: Code Generators

About: Embedded Resources Compiler is a tool that will generate a C++
source file (along with the corresponding header file) that embeds any
given data file and provides a Resource class which gives access to this
data. The Resource class can be created in two flavors: one using STL
streams, the other using WxWidgets streams. Its function is similar to
that of the "qtrc" tool from the Qt toolkit.

Changes: The interface of the wxWidgets Resource object was reworked. It
now works with Unicode versions of wxWidgets greater than 2.6.0.

[035] - Ragel State Machine Compiler 6.0
  by Adrian Thurston (http://freshmeat.net/users/age/)
  Sat, Jan 12th 2008 16:34

Software Development :: Code Generators

About: Ragel compiles finite state machines from regular languages into C,
C++, Objective-C, D, Java, or Ruby code. It allows the programmer to embed
actions at any point in a regular language, and to control non-determinism
in the resulting machines. It understands concatenation, union, kleene
star, subtraction, intersection, epsilon transitions, and various other
common operators. It also supports the construction of scanners and the
building of state machines using state charts. It can be used to create
very fast recognizers and parsers that are also robust.

Changes: The "write eof" directive was removed in favor of a new execution
variable that marks the end of file. The entering, leaving, and error
embedding operators were reverted back to the 3.X semantics. The "ragel"
program now executes the appropriate backend program. The guarded
concatenation operators were strengthened. The tokstart and tokend
variables where shortened to ts and te. Many more improvements were made.

Software Development :: Version Control

About: setuptools_git is a plugin for Setuptools that enables Git
integration. Once installed, Setuptools can be told to include in a module
distribution all the files tracked by git. This is an alternative to
explicit inclusion specifications with MANIFEST.in. This package was
formerly known as gitlsfiles. The name change is the result of an effort
by the setuptools plugin developers to provide a uniform naming
convention.

Changes: The documentation was improved.

Scientific/Engineering
Software Development
Software Development :: User Interfaces

About: This library provides I/O facilities for integer, floating-point,
Roman numbers, and strings. Both input and output subroutines support
string pointers for consequent stream processing. The output can be
aligned in a fixed size field with padding. Numeric input can be checked
against expected values range to be either saturated or to raise an
exception. For floating-point output either relative or absolute output
precision can be specified. UTF-8 encoded strings are supported.

Changes: This new version adds the package Strings_Edit.UTF8.Wildcards for
matching UTF-8 encoded strings against wildcards patterns and the package
Strings_Edit.UTF8.Mapping for upper and lower case conversions of UTF-8
encoded strings and code points. The procedure Get_Backwards was added to
Strings_Edit.UTF8 to scan UTF-8 characters backwards. The functions
Is_Prefix were added to the Strings_Edit package.

[045] - Vamos 0.3.1 (rootz)
  by whadar (http://freshmeat.net/users/whadar/)
  Sat, Jan 12th 2008 16:45

System :: Software Distribution
System :: Software Distribution Tools

About: Vamos project allows computers to run software directly from the
network, without installations. The software is stored on servers and is
centrally maintained without the user's effort or attention. The user just
needs to run applications, and the necessary bits are streamed
automatically to its computer. The execution of the software is local,
allowing high responsiveness and distributed computational load.

Changes: Support was added for plain chroot, consisting of an uncompressed
directory containing a complete system. With this option, it is actually
possible to manually mount virtually any kind of image (including cloop
based images), using any kind of filesystem. Afterwards, rootz will easily
hook to the mounted image.
