[001] - AJAX Image Dump System 1.2
  by vidarlo (http://freshmeat.net/users/vidarlo/)
  Mon, Jan 21st 2008 16:16

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content

About: AIDS (AJAX Image Dump System) is a simple, yet powerful AJAX-based
image host system. It's geared toward forum usage, and it generates
bb-code for cutting and pasting into forums that support bb-code. It lets
people create user accounts to keep track of their pictures, reaccess them
later to view stats, delete them, or simply copy the bb-code again.

Changes: The bug that stopped user registration from working has been
fixed. A few new features have been added. A serious SQL injection
possibility in viewimage.php has been removed, upgrading is highly
recommended.

Microsoft Windows operating systems. It supports tapes, disks, optical
media, and changers.

Changes: The device API provides a pluggable interface to storage devices,
supporting tapes, vtapes, RAIT, and Amazon S3. New Perl modules link
directly to Amanda to support the writing of Amanda applications in Perl.
A new 'local' security driver supports backups of the Amanda server
without any network connection or other configuration.

Software Development :: Libraries

About: Cibyl is a programming environment that allows compiled C/C++
programs to execute on J2ME-capable phones. Cibyl uses GCC to compile
programs to MIPS binaries, and these are then translated into Java
bytecode. The use of binary translation and the simplicity of translating
MIPS instructions means that Cibyl programs can be quite well-performing.
With Cibyl, programs written in C/C++ can be ported to J2ME without
switching languages.

Changes: A few regressions from version 14 have been fixed. A potential
stack/heap overlap was fixed. Tracing support has been improved and memory
writes can now be instrumented. Some new libc functionality has also been
added.

About: ns4 is a configuration management tool which allows the automated

switches. If you are able to log into it through a CLI, you can back it
up. Commands are defined within a configuration file, and when they are
executed, the output is sent to a series of FTP servers for archiving. As
well as archiving configurations, it allows scripts to be run on nodes;
this allows configurations to be applied en masse and allows conditional
logic so different bits of scripts are run on different nodes.

Changes: This release introduces Customer Contain Options within the

Software Development :: Libraries

About: pacparser is a library to parse proxy auto-config (PAC) files.
Proxy auto-config files are a vastly used proxy configuration method these
days. Web browsers can use a PAC file to determine which proxy server to
use or whether to go direct for a given URL. The idea behind pacparser is
to make it easy to add PAC file parsing capability to any program (C and
Python are supported right now). It comes as a shared C library and a
Python module that can be used to make any C or Python program PAC scripts
intelligent. Some very useful targets could be popular Web software like
wget, curl, and python-urllib.

[057] - Strasheela 0.9.1
  by Torsten Anders (http://freshmeat.net/users/tanders/)
  Mon, Jan 21st 2008 13:18

Multimedia :: Sound/Audio

About: Strasheela is a highly expressive constraint-based music
composition system. Users declaratively state a music theory and the
computer generates music which complies with this theory. A theory is
formulated as a constraint satisfaction problem (CSP) by a set of rules
(constraints) applied to a music representation in which some aspects are
expressed by variables (unknowns). Music constraint programming is
style-independent and is well-suited for highly complex theories (e.g. a
fully-fledged theory of harmony). Results can be output into various
formats including MIDI, Lilypond, and Csound.

Changes: This release can import MIDI files. Revision of the tutorial has
begun. The harmony model was extended, for example, by elaborative
representations of pitch intervals and chord inversions. Further additions

[061] - Tokyo Cabinet 1.1.11
  by Mikio Hirabayashi (http://freshmeat.net/users/mikio/)
  Mon, Jan 21st 2008 22:25

Database :: Database Engines/Servers
Software Development :: Libraries

About: Tokyo Cabinet is a library of routines for managing a database. It
is the successor of QDBM. Tokyo Cabinet runs very fast. For example, the
time required to store 1 million records is 1.5 seconds for a hash
database and 2.2 seconds for a B+ tree database. Moreover, the database
size is very small. For example, the overhead for a record is 16 bytes for
a hash database, and 5 bytes for a B+ tree database. Furthermore, the
scalability of Tokyo Cabinet is great. The database size can be up to 8EB.

Changes: Database abstraction mechanisms of on-memory hash map, file hash
map, and B+ tree file were added. A database server and remote interface
were added.

(Fidonet only), Internet topdomains, receivers (Fidonet only), subjects,
and used software, as well as graphs over posting by weekday and time of
day. It supports Squish, *.MSG, FDAPX/w, JAM, MyPoint, and tanstaafl's
message area base format, as well as Usenet news groups over NNTP or in
news spools. Command line and GUI versions are included.

[063] - UCARP 1.4
  by j (http://freshmeat.net/users/frankdenis/)
  Mon, Jan 21st 2008 07:44

Internet
System :: Networking
System :: Networking :: Firewalls

About: UCARP allows a pair of hosts to share common virtual IP addresses
in order to provide automatic failover. It is a portable userland
implementation of the secure and patent- free Common Address Redundancy
Protocol (CARP, OpenBSD's alternative to VRRP). Strong points of the CARP
 protocol include its very low overhead, cryptographically signed
messages, interoperability between different operating systems and no
need for any dedicated extra network link between redundant hosts.

Changes: This version should finally fix every issue people had with
gratuitous ARP announcements. Nodes configured with the same intervals
shouln't flip-flop any more. This is a recommended upgrade for everyone.

Software Development :: Version Control :: Subversion

About: Userfriendly SVN (USVN) is a Web-based interface to configure your
subversion repositories. This interface allows you to create new projects
without a command line client, and it requires priviliged access to the
server. USVN will take care of managing the list of users which are
authorized to check out source code. This allows you to delegate the
administration of your Subversion depots. USVN permits easy management of
access restriction on Subversion files.

Changes: An RSS flow which allows one to follow a project's life was
added. A dedicated time line page was added. Tools were added in order to
import existing Subversion repositories. A USVN package for WAMP was
created, for easy installation of USVN under Windows. Group management was
rewritten. Automatics checks are made for new USVN releases. A page which
gives a detailed USVN installation report was added. Rights are applied
recursively on folders and subfolders. A Russian translation and a German
translation were added. It is also possible to create empty projects.
