Multimedia :: Sound/Audio :: Sound Synthesis
Software Development :: Code Generators
Software Development :: Compilers

About: Faust AUdio STreams is an expressive functional programming
language for realtime audio signal processing. The Faust compiler
translates DSP specifications into efficient C++ code. A variety of
platforms and plugin formats are supported. A single Faust specification
can be used to easily generate JACK and ALSA applications, as well as
LADSPA, MAX/MSP, PD, Q, SC, and VST plugins. In addition to C++ code, the
Faust compiler can also generate SVG block-diagram representations as well
as XML descriptions.

Changes: This release contains some extensions to the Faust language like
the new fvariable declaration or the unary operator "-" with identifiers
("-x" is now allowed). Several bugs have been corrected. Some new
architecture files are provided in particular for using Faust with snd-rt.
The effect and filter libraries have also been improved, and a new
oscillator library is available. The time to compile some very complex
programs has been notably reduced.

Database
Database :: API
Database :: Database Engines/Servers

About: jPersist is an extremely powerful object-relational database
persistence API that manages to avoid the need for configuration and
annotation; mapping is automatic. It uses JDBC, and can work with any
relational database and any type of connection resource. It uses
information obtained from the database to handle mapping between the
database and Java objects, so mapping configuration is not needed, and
annotation is not needed. In fact, there is no configuration needed at
all.

Changes: This major update includes several added annotations for easier
mapping (when needed), improved class/table matching (making false
positives mostly non-existent), the replacement of several Java legacy
classes with the newer versions, and switching to concurrentHashMap where
needed.

Software Development :: Libraries
Software Development :: Libraries :: Java Libraries
System :: Logging

About: Logback is intended as a successor to the popular log4j project,
and was designed by log4j's founder, Ceki Gulcu. The basic architecture is
sufficiently generic so as to apply under different circumstances. It is
divided into three modules. The Core module lays the groundwork for the
other two modules, whereas the Classic module can be assimilated to an
improved version of log4j. It natively implements the SLF4J API so that
you can readily switch back and forth between logback and other logging
systems, such as log4j or JDK14 Logging. The Access module integrates with
Servlet containers to provide HTTP access log functionality. You can easily
build your own modules on top of the Core module.

persist across reboots of the local cron host. It identifies and runs cron
jobs scheduled while the cron host was down. It can mirror its state to
protect the above from disk failure. It supports relocation of cron jobs
to another cron host. It lets you report, examine, cancel, and run
outstanding cron jobs. In short, it eliminates much tedious disaster
recovery work.

Changes: A bug with the -k option (on Solaris) was fixed and a
typographical error in the manpage was fixed.

[028] - PHP MIME Mail decoder class 2008.03.27
  by Manuel Lemos (http://freshmeat.net/users/mlemos/)
  Thu, Mar 27th 2008 01:56

Communications :: Email :: Filters
Software Development :: Libraries :: PHP Classes

About: PHP MIME Mail decoder class is a PHP class to parse and decode MIME
email messages. It supports decoding single RFC 2822 MIME messages or
archives that aggregate multiple messages in the mbox format. It can
decode messages read from files or data strings. The bodies of multipart
messages can be decoded into distinct sub-messages. Optionally, the
message body data can be saved to separate files, so the class can handle
messages larger than the available memory. The parser can tolerate some
syntax errors in malformed messages that are not compliant with RFC 2822.

Changes: The message Analyze function was enhanced to return the character
set encoding of each message part. It now also recognizes ODF text, PKCS7
and PGP signed messages parts, and tolerates any other unrecognized
message parts of type text, image, audio, video, and application.

Desktop Environment :: Tools
Information Management
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Indexing/Search

About: Pinot is a D-Bus service that crawls, indexes your documents, and
monitors them for changes. It is also a GTK-based user interface that
enables you to query the index built by the service or your favorite Web
engine, and display and analyze the results. It makes full use of advanced
indexing and search facilities offered by Xapian, features language
detection, dynamic document summaries, easy labelling of documents, and
internal support for common file types. The D-Bus interface allows easy
integration with other applications.

Changes: CJKV indexing is faster. The spelling database is populated with
CJKV terms too. Stored queries can index all results or only new results.
In Preferences, patterns can be reset to default values. The Status window
shows whether the daemon was stopped by or disconnected from D-Bus. A new
plugin for UNdata is included. Possible crashes in pinot-index,
pinot-dbus-daemon, and pinot were fixed, as well as an issue with
signalling between crawler and indexer. Fixes were applied to build with
gcc 4.3, and for inotify support on some platforms. A simplified Chinese
translation was added.

it tries to automatically guess input parameters form SQL code, and output
parameters from the SQL result set fetched. All the SQL statements can be
translated to source code, even those with proprietary syntax. It
currently supports 4 databases for Java (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL and SQL
Server) and Oracle with Python. A Netbeans plugin is also available (for
stored procedures only).
