[001] - Amahi Linux Home Server 9.a4 (F9)
  by cpg (http://freshmeat.net/users/cpg/)
  Fri, Sep 12th 2008 13:01

Information Management
Software Development :: Libraries :: Ruby Modules
System :: Operating System :: Linux Distributions

About: The Amahi Home Server is a Linux Home Server based on Fedora (and
later on Ubuntu). Your machine becomes a "Home Digital Assistant" or HDA
after the installation. Each HDA is a Fedora-based server targeted for home
and home office environments. It provides an iTunes server, calendaring, a
wiki, shared network storage, network backups, a printer server, VPN, and a
plug-in architecture built on Ruby on Rails.

Changes: This is the first public alpha of Amahi for Fedora 9. It includes
fixes from the last few days that are not in the the repositories. Most
notable are Web apps (working to a basic level), removal of unnecessary
dependencies on Imagemagick, and some smaller tweaks.

Scientific/Engineering :: Visualization

About: Animath is a Finite Element Method library entirely implemented in
C++. It is suited for fluid-structure interaction simulation, and it is
mathematically based on higher-order tetrahedral elements. It provides
front-ends to matrix solvers and mesh generators.

Changes: Most significantly, this version adds traction and stress
recovery routines and second order surfaces with curvilinear coordinates.
The writing of FSI-problem solvers is (again) conveniently possible.

basic Intrusion Detection plugin based on audit events capable of IDMEF
alerting using prelude.

Changes: tcp_wrappers support for auditd. The remote logging protocol has
been made robust. GSSAPI auth/encryption has been added to remote logging.
Syscall tables have been updated for the 2.6.27 kernel.
Connection/disconnection of remote clients.

[007] - Cosmo 1.1.0 (Development)
  by Jared Rhine (http://freshmeat.net/users/jaredrhine/)
  Fri, Sep 12th 2008 12:59

About: Cosmo is the OSAF calendar sharing server. With your favorite
calendar program (Chandler, Apple iCal, Mozilla Sunbird, or any other
WebDAV or CalDAV enabled client), you can share your calendar with other
people by publishing it to Cosmo. Your shared calendars can be subscribed
to and updated by anyone, even if they don't have an account on your
server. Cosmo provides Atom feeds for shared calendars, so you can track
updates in your favorite feed reader and integrate your calendar into your
Web site or blog.

Changes: Users can now delete their own accounts using the Web UI. CTAG (a
draft CalDAV standard) support is available. A few rendering and logic bugs
have been fixed.

[008] - Crossroads Load Balancer 2.12
  by Karel Kubat (http://freshmeat.net/users/karelk/)
  Fri, Sep 12th 2008 09:38

System :: Clustering/Distributed Networks
System :: Networking

About: Crossroads is a daemon running in user space, and features
extensive configurability, polling of back ends using wake up calls, status
reporting, many algorithms to select the 'right' back end for a request
(and user-defined algorithms for very special cases), and much more.
Crossroads is service-independent: it is usable for any TCP service, such
as HTTP(S), SSH, SMTP, and database connections. In the case of HTTP
balancing, Crossroads can provide session stickiness for back end processes
that need sessions, but aren't session-aware of other back ends. Crossroads
can be run as a stand-alone daemon or via inetd.

Changes: Compilation compatibilities with Solaris and gcc 3.x were fixed.
A Web interface for status monitoring and for the modification of key
parameters was implemented. Reverse-proxy functionality was implemented, so
that in HTTP mode, Crossroads can address several back end pools to balance
Web sites by their host name.

About: cryptod is a program that listens on a TCP port or unix socket,
receives information on that port, and performs the requested action.
Common actions are aes256 encrypting/decrypting, base64 encoding/decoding,

  Fri, Sep 12th 2008 05:49

Software Development :: Internationalization
Software Development :: Localization

About: FastFormat is a C/C++ output and formatting library whose design
parameters are complete type-safety, efficiency, genericity, and
extensibility. It is simple to use and extend, highly portable (to any
platform or compiler), and it upholds the C tradition of you only pay for
what you use. FastFormat supports output and formatting of statements of
arbitrary complexity, consisting of heterogeneous types. FastFormat writes
to output "sinks", which can be of arbitrary type.

Changes: This release puts in a number of modifications to enable
widestring support in the library. It also fixes a defect in the implicit
link header that manifests when 64-bit targets are used. This release
depends on STLSoft 1.9.52.

not only thumbnails for one size, but thumbnails of many different sizes.

Changes: This update includes fixes for a bug that caused the application
to halt, compile fixes for gcc 4.3, a new random layout function, a random
shuffle option, a function to create non-overlapping layouts, smooth
transitions for scaled images, and a new tool that allows you to move

About: The mod_cidr_lookup is an Apache module for version 2.2 and 2.0.
The mod_cidr_lookup detects client type by looking up the client's source

Syllable Desktop, but on the Linux kernel.

Changes: This release is important because it focused on making the system

programming, with support for Model-View-Controller Web applications in
QuarterMaster and network applications with the REBOL/Services Service

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content :: CGI Tools/Libraries

About: Werc is a minimalistic content management system implemented as a
collection of shell scripts written in the rc shell and taking advantage of
other Plan 9 tools available on *nix systems as part of "Plan 9 from User
Space". It is designed to be fast, simple, convenient, and easily
extensible (you can easily integrate your own dynamic content with the rest
of the site). It should handle well both small and big sites, including
seamless multi-domain handling. All data is stored as plain text files
without need of a database and there is support for blog directories with
automatic RSS feed generation (including feed aggregation).

Changes: A few extra bugfixes and improvements (almost ready for 1.0).
Improved sitemap generation. More templates may be easily overridden (e.g.
404 error pages). Site- (and masterSite-) wide extra headers are allowed.
There are various minor fixes and improvements.

Software Development :: Bug Tracking

About: Yet Another Nopaste is an implementation of nopaste, allowing copy

and simple usage.

Changes: The last language choice is now remembered using cookies. You can
optionally protect your past using a password. The original paste is now
available in the result page. Line numbers have been added to highlighted
content. The configured retention time is now indicated. From the server's
point of view, the pasted content is now stored as an XML file that can
store meta-information. A hook for Google Analytics has been added.
