by Phil Endecott (http://freshmeat.net/users/endecotp/)

Communications :: WAP
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Terminals :: Terminal Emulators/X Terminals
About: Anyterm provides a terminal emulator on a Web page using Javascript
and a server daemon. The daemon typically runs behind an HTTP proxy; it
forks a shell and communicates with the script using XMLHTTP on port 80 or
securely using SSL. This provides you with shell access to your machine
from almost any Web browser, even when firewalls are in the way. The
my.anyterm.org service provides access without the need to install anything
on your servers.
Changes: This release reorganizes the code to remove a couple of
troublesome library dependencies, fixes a bug that had prevented use in
some CGI applications, and adds a man page.

System :: Archiving
About: The artiPACS (Art in a Picture Archive) is a digital picture
archive. It has two main modules: the archive and the broker. The Picture
Archive module consists of a file-transfer server, a reference repository,
and a utility to upload photos. Since the archive uses version control, you
can see collections evolve over time. The Broker exposes the collections to
the users. The mipmip client is a portable graphical user interface, using
3D technology to browse and view high-resolution images.
Changes: This release brings compatibility bugfixes and a larger sample
dataset.

Extended Edition also includes a PDF reader for importing and editing,
along with FDF support, verification for digital signatures and text
extraction. Both variations offer full Unicode support, encryption,
embedded TrueType and Type1 fonts, barcodes, hyperlinks, and spot and
calibrated color.
Changes: Jar size was further reduced through new obfuscation techniques.
Case-insensitive search was added to PageExtractor.getMatchingText().
PostScript errors were fixed on "copy" and "internaldict" operators, used
in some fonts created by pdfeTeX. Flate streams with Predictor=10 and
multi-pages little-endian TIFFs were fixed.

Changes: Several incorrect checks, allowing a malformed signature to be
treated as a good signature rather than as an error, were fixed. This
vulnerability was reported as CVE-2008-5077. Experimental JPAKE support was
implemented. Support for XMPP STARTTLS was added in s_client. Several other
minor changes were made.

[035] - TreeLine 1.2.2 (Stable)
by Doug Bell (http://freshmeat.net/users/Doug101/)
Thu, Jan 8th 2009 15:11
Other/Nonlisted Topic
About: TreeLine is used to organize and store text data in a tree
structure. It is well suited to keeping track of many different types of
information. Each node of the tree can contain several defined fields,
forming a mini-database. The format of each node can be defined, and the
output can be shown on the screen, printed, or exported to HTML. The tree
structure is navigated and edited in the left pane of the window, while
various views of the child data are shown and editable in the right pane.
The data is stored in XML text files. TreeLine is based on the PyQt
library.
Changes: A German translation was added. Support was added for Python 2.6.
Tabbing issues were fixed, as well as problems with special fields in node
titles.

[037] - vAVRdisasm 1.3
by Vanya A. Sergeev (http://freshmeat.net/users/vsergeev/)
Thu, Jan 8th 2009 21:39
Software Development :: Disassemblers
About: vAVRdisasm is an Atmel AVR firmware disassembler. It supports all
AVR instructions defined by the Atmel AVR Instruction Set, revision
0856E-AVR-11/05. This single-pass disassembler can handle Atmel Generic,
Intel HEX8, and Motorola S-Record formatted files containing valid AVR
firmware. vAVRdisasm is capable of a variety of formatting options,
including representing data constants in different bases, and can output
assemble-able code.
Changes: This release corrects a few minor bugs and one critical bug: the
calculation of the absolute address, which is used in certain instructions
(like absolute jump). Previous versions showed absolute addresses that were
not multiplied by two (to account for the 16-bit instruction size), and
therefore did not display the correct absolute address. This has been
fixed.

[039] - Ximinez 0.3
by Matjaz Terpin (http://freshmeat.net/users/matjazt/)
Thu, Jan 8th 2009 15:08
System :: Filesystems
System :: Systems Administration
About: Ximinez is a disk usage analyzer and comparator. It enables you to
take snapshots of disk usage for a given folder, to browse through the
snapshots, and to view differences between snapshots. It is aimed towards
solving problems like: "Why is my disk suddenly so full when it was OK just
recently?" Besides the GUI, the package also includes an optional command
line tool, which can be used, for example, in conjunction with a scheduler
to take snapshots on a regular basis.
Changes: A settings dialog was created. The directory tree remains
expanded during sorting, and selection is also preserved. The "file
manager" and "terminal" shortcuts should now work out of the box on most
Linux distributions and on Windows. There should be no more complaints
about "unknown file types" (for things such as sockets and device files),
just some notes about ignoring such files. There were many changes made in
the generic modules.

[040] - YourKit Java Profiler 8.0-build4042 (EAP)
by YourKit Team (http://freshmeat.net/users/YourKitTeam/)
Thu, Jan 8th 2009 15:24
Software Development
Software Development :: Debuggers
Software Development :: Quality Assurance
About: YourKit Java Profiler is a CPU and memory profiler that makes it
easy to solve wide range of CPU- and memory-related performance problems.
It features automatic leak detection, powerful tools for the analysis of
memory distribution, an object heap browser, comprehensive memory tests as
part of your JUnit testing process, extremely low profiling overhead,
transparent deobfuscation support, and integration with Eclipse, JBuilder,
IntelliJ IDEA, NetBeans, and JDeveloper IDEs.
Changes: Table column visibility can be configured. Table column widths
are chosen more accurately. The Ctrl+F action, in addition to searching in
java.lang.String instances, now has an option to search in char arrays, as
well as in byte arrays in the specified encoding. Text representation of
byte arrays can be viewed in the "Quick info" (Ctrl+Q) panel. Memory
snapshot capture could fail under some circumstances due to incorrect data
provided by JRockit. Class loaders are marked in object explorers with a
dedicated icon.
