Software Development :: Libraries :: Application Frameworks
Software Development :: Libraries :: PHP Classes

About: The Adventure-(PHP-)Framework is a Web development framework that
helps you design and create object oriented and reusable PHP Web
applications. It features a unique DOM model, the generic page controller
component, and a set of shipped XML tag libraries to build GUIs based on
XML/HTML templates. The framework core contains components like front
controller, global benchmark concept, global error handling, and a
configuration management class. It includes complete modules like a
guestbook, a comment function, and a generic pager.

Changes: The framework is now licensed under the LGPLv3 to enable
enterprise users to apply the framework for their closed source or own
license products. This release contains additional productivity tools, like
the AdvancedLogger, the core:appendnode taglib, and eZ style template
translation. Moreover, proven components were refactored. Among these are
the FilesystemManager, the AdvancedBBCodeParser, and the html:template
taglib. This stable version contains a great number of improvements, that
eases the programmer's life, and the RC1 feedback on the GenericORMapper.

About: AirSAM is a desktop GUI that compliments the Web based Snort Alert
Monitor. AirSAM gives up to date insight into who might be attacking your
network. The ultimate goal is to give audio/visual cues right at the time
of the attack. AirSAM is an Adobe Air application and should run on Mac OS,
Linux, and Windows.

[003] - Apache SQL analyser 1.2
  by Steve Kemp (http://freshmeat.net/users/skx/)
  Sun, Jan 11th 2009 22:08

Internet :: Log Analysis

About: asql allows you to run SQL queries against log files formatted in
the Apache common log file format. You may load multiple log files into a
session, then run queries using a full SQL implementation, to find things
such as the most common referers to your site, the greediest downloaders,
and much more. Internally, each log file is parsed and imported into a
temporary SQLite database, so performance is very good.

Changes: This release ensures that when importing Apache logs into the
temporary SQL table that the HTTP status code is treated as an integer and
not a string.

[004] - audit daemon 1.7.11
  by Steve Grubb (http://freshmeat.net/users/stevegrubb/)
  Sun, Jan 11th 2009 13:40

Security
System :: Logging
System :: Monitoring

About: The audit package contains the user-space utilities for creating
audit rules, as well as for storing and searching the audit records
generate by the audit subsystem in the Linux 2.6 kernel. It also has a
basic Intrusion Detection plugin based on audit events capable of IDMEF
alerting using prelude.

Changes: This release fixes several bugs in remote logging. auditd now
leaves the old log writable if rotation fails. On kernels with both 64-bit
and 32-bit syscalls, auditctl will now warn if a syscall rule attempts to
cover both and the 64/32-bit syscall numbers do not match. A bug was fixed
in the auparse library where it was not including single key fields in the
audit records.

full preview of MZ, NE, PE, LE, LX, DOS.SYS, NLM, ELF, a.out, arch, coff32,
PharLap, and rdoff executable formats, a code guider, and many other
features.

Changes: Minor fixes and cleanups were made. A workaround was added for
the output of an external assembler. The generic build was fixed. Broken
output on UTF terminals was fixed.

[006] - Blitz templates for PHP 0.6.6
  by Alexey Rybak (http://freshmeat.net/users/alexeyrybak/)
  Sun, Jan 11th 2009 22:07

Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Site Management

About: Blitz templates is a fast PHP template engine written in C and
compiled as a PHP extension. It started as a php_templates replacement, but
developed into much more. It is based on extensible template controllers
(custom view classes in PHP) and weakly-active templates (simple logic in
HTML). Benchmarks show that it is one of the fastest template engines for
PHP, even though it's not trivial and makes Web application closer to a
smart MVC-like architecture model with maximal separation of HTML from your
code. It was designed for big high-load Internet projects with a lot of
complex presentation logic.

Changes: New methods ("assign" and "display") were added to Blitz class.
"Assign" is a "set" alias. "Display" has the same arguments as "parse", and
executes a template outputting the result immediately. A new ini variable
"blitz.warn_context_duplicates" was added. When it's set to 1 (the default
is 0), Blitz generates warnings for context name duplicates by comparing
full context paths. A couple of rare segfaults were fixed (executing
user/internal methods when calling "fetch" from non-initialized contexts
without parameters).

About: BTG is a bittorrent daemon implemented in C++ and using the
libtorrent library. It provides an ncurses UI, a gtkmm GUI, and a Web
interface, which communicate with a common backend running the actual
bittorrent operation.

Changes: This release attempts to optimize the way the WWW UI works, adds
Rasterbar Libtorrent UPnP support, and adds support for Rasterbar
Libtorrent 0.14.1. It also adds some minor features and fixes minor bugs.

[008] - Cataract 0.99.1
  by Tomas Bzatek (http://freshmeat.net/users/tbzatek/)
  Sun, Jan 11th 2009 15:35

Multimedia :: Graphics :: Presentation
Utilities

About: CGG is a simple static Web photo gallery, designed to be clean and
easily usable, with EXIF support. Generated pages are static HTML files
with no extra requirements on the server. The gallery source is a set of
XML files containing everything needed. The gallery has modern design, and
pages are valid XHTML 1.0 and CSS 2. No GUI is supplied: this is a console
application, allowing easy scripting (e.g. auto-refresh after new images
are uploaded via FTP).

Changes: This release focuses on various smaller improvements and bugfixes
that make a big difference in the end. Gallery authors can now choose from
a broader variety of options that affect generated code. Overall cleanup of
templates has been performed, and pages are now more flexible in scaling.
Space saving routines have been implemented by stripping unneeded
datablocks from JPEG images.

Communications :: Email
Internet :: WWW/HTTP
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content :: CGI Tools/Libraries

About: CGI::ContactForm is a Perl module that generates a contact form for
the Web and sends a message to a predestinated recipient. Unlike many
form-to-mail programs, it's limited to this single purpose, but it allows
you to set up a decently designed form with a minimum of effort. In other
words, it's simple to use rather than flexible, even if there are quite a
few customization possibilities.

Changes: User-Agent and Referer message headers were added to make it
easier to prevent automated spam submissions. The syntax of the
"spamfilter" argument is checked.

  Sun, Jan 11th 2009 22:10

Communications
Internet
System :: Networking

About: CloudVPN is a VPN that allows mesh networking. It can create
secured networks with special or weird topologies. All nodes of the network
are equal and can connect in any way, so it's very easy to create
connection schemes with (for example) clustered servers, decentralized
servers, complete topologies for better throughput, ring topologies for
failover, long-line for passing through many routes, or tree topology for
optimizing inter-server bandwidth needs. It is very easy to get working.

Changes: This release fixes a possible attack coming from malevolent
authenticated users, adds filtering broadcast packets to prevent network
overfilling, and adds a tested DSA packet generator. Nice bandwidth stats
are now exported to status.

Multimedia :: Video :: Capture
Software Development :: Libraries
System :: Hardware

About: libv4l is a collection of libraries that adds a thin abstraction
layer on top of video4linux2 (V4L2) devices. The purpose of this layer is
to make it easy for application writers to support a wide variety of
devices without having to write separate code for different devices in the
same class. It consists of 3 different libraries. libv4lconvert offers
functions to convert from any (known) pixel format to V4l2_PIX_FMT_BGR24 or
V4l2_PIX_FMT_YUV420. libv4l1 offers the (deprecated) v4l1 API on top of
v4l2 devices, independent of the drivers for those devices supporting v4l1
compatibility (which many v4l2 drivers do not). libv4l2 offers the v4l2 API
on top of v4l2 devices, while adding support for the application
transparent libv4lconvert conversion where necessary.

Changes: Support for the UYVY colorspace was added. A duplicate conversion
function was removed. The pkg-config file was fixed. USB IDs are now used
instead of the USB product strings, fixing potential issues.

[029] - remake 3.81-0.2
  by R. Bernstein (http://freshmeat.net/users/rocky/)
  Sun, Jan 11th 2009 13:45

Software Development :: Build Tools
Software Development :: Debuggers

About: remake is a patched and modernized version of GNU make utility
that adds improved error reporting, the ability to trace execution in a
comprehensible way, and a debugger. The debugger lets you set breakpoints
on targets, show and set variables in expanded or unexpanded form, inspect
target descriptions, see the target call stack, and even execute arbitrary
GNU make fragments (e.g. add a dependency to an existing target).

Changes: The debugger documentation from the 3.80x code inadvertently
dropped from the previous release has been restored. A bug causing a SEGV
in showing target information for a .PHONY target was fixed.

[033] - storebackup 3.0-rc1
  by Heinz-Josef Claes (http://freshmeat.net/users/hjclaes/)
  Sun, Jan 11th 2009 13:47

System :: Archiving :: Backup
System :: Archiving :: Compression

About: storebackup is a backup utility that stores files on other disks.
It includes several optimizations that reduce the disk space needed and
improve performance, and unifies the advantages of traditional full and
incremental backups. Depending on its contents, every file is stored only
once on disk. It includes tools for analyzing backup data and restoring.
Once archived, files are accessible by mounting filesystems (locally, or
via Samba or NFS). It is easy to install and configure.

Changes: This version adds consistency checking of backups and the ability
to store complete devices (e.g. from truecrypt) or big image files (e.g.
from VMware or Xen) with changes in parts from backup to backup
efficiently.

[035] - sysstat 8.1.8
  by Sébastien Godard (http://freshmeat.net/users/godard/)
  Sun, Jan 11th 2009 15:06

System :: Monitoring
System :: Systems Administration

About: The sysstat package contains the sar, sadf, iostat, mpstat, and
pidstat commands for Linux. The sar command collects and reports system
activity information. The statistics reported by sar concern I/O transfer
rates, paging activity, process-related activites, interrupts, network
activity, memory and swap space utilization, CPU utilization, kernel
activities, and TTY statistics, among others. The sadf command may be used
to display data collected by sar in various formats. The iostat command
reports CPU statistics and I/O statistics for tty devices and disks. The
pidstat command reports statistics for Linux processes. The mpstat command
reports global and per-processor statistics.

Changes: Support was added for IPv6-related protocols. iostat now displays
statistics for devices only (and not partitions) when its -d option is not
used. Extended statistics are now available from iostat even for partitions
with recent kernels. A bug was fixed where iostat was unable to read stats
from sysfs for devices which had a slash in their names (e.g.
/dev/cciss/c0d0). A bug was fixed in iostat where %CPU spent servicing hard
and soft IRQ were counted twice.

[037] - wumwum 0.3
  by wagner frederic (http://freshmeat.net/users/wagnerf/)
  Sun, Jan 11th 2009 15:37

Desktop Environment :: Window Managers

About: wumwum is a window manager manager. The idea behind wumwum is to
turn any EWMH-compliant window manager into a tiling manager a la "ion" or
"awesome". wumwum works by using wmctrl, and adapts itself dynamically to
the active window manager. All functionality from the underlying window
manager is kept when under wumwum, making it ideal for beginners.

Changes: Support was added for xfwm4. A new operation was added to hide or
redisplay all windows on the current desktop. Sticky windows are managed in
an overlay screen. Minor improvements were made for e17.

[038] - xine xine-lib 1.1.16
  by Moritz Barsnick (http://freshmeat.net/users/barsnick/)
  Sun, Jan 11th 2009 22:04

Multimedia :: Video :: Display

About: xine is a free multimedia player. It plays back CDs, DVDs, and
VCDs. It also decodes multimedia files like AVI, MOV, WMV, and MP3 from
local disk drives, and displays multimedia streamed over the Internet. It
interprets many of the most common multimedia formats available--and some
of the most uncommon formats, too. All those features come in a reusable
library (xine-lib) which can easily be embedded in your applications.

Changes: Several security fixes were made. This solves a heap overflow in
Quicktime atom parsing, multiple buffer overflows, multiple integer
overflows, unchecked or incompletely checked read function results,
unchecked malloc using untrusted values, buffer indexing using untrusted or
unchecked values, integer overflows in the ffmpeg audio decoder and the
CDDA server, and a heap buffer overflow in the ffmpeg video decoder. A
segfault on invalid track type in Matroska files is avoided. Several
further bugfixes were made. H.264 and AAC streams are now supported within
FLV.
