[001] - AgileWiki 12.2.2 (Element Model)
  by Bill la Forge (http://freshmeat.net/users/laforge49/)

Database
Documentation
Information Management

About: AgileWiki is an SDK for assembling software systems which are
fluid, easily configured and can be reorganized on-the-fly to meet ever
changing requirements. It includes a COW-based database, the Rolonics
programming paradigm, and semantic inferencing.

Changes: Special characters can now be used in attributes and are encoded
when expressing XML. Timestamps use "." in place of ":" for compatibility
with dump/load. Load now supports migration to a lessor configuration -
unknown element types are simply not loaded, nor are their subordinate
elements. Miscellaneous bugs were found and fixed in load. SMTP Service now
uses a dedicated thread.

  by Paddy Sreenivasan (http://freshmeat.net/users/submitpaddy/)
  Tue, Jan 27th 2009 09:53

System :: Archiving :: Backup

About: Amanda is a popular network backup and archiving software that
protects multiple machines running various versions of Linux, Unix, and
Microsoft Windows operating systems. It supports tapes, disks, optical
media, and changers.

Changes: An application API allows you to easily write wrappers around any
backup program (see the 'amanda-applications' man page0. amgtar now uses
GNU tar, which is a lot more configurable than the GNUTAR program.
amzfs-sendrecv performs backups of a ZFS filesystem with 'zfs send'. The
script API now allows you to run scripts before and after the amanda
process. amzfs-snapshot takes a snapshot of a ZFS filesystem, which can
then be backed up with amgtar.

Software Development
Software Development :: Build Tools
Software Development :: Quality Assurance

About: AnthillPro is a build management and lifecycle automation server
for the enterprise that makes the build and release process easy and
efficient. As a continuous integration server, it can produce a new build
for every developer check-in. The entire team can be alerted to problems
via email or instant message. Each build can then be promoted to higher
statuses, or deployed to various servers and environments using your
scripts. At every step, AnthillPro records who did what to keep your
auditors happy.

Changes: Developers can now build their code on a build farm prior to
commit. Test and Test Coverage trending and metrics were improved.
Mercurial source control and EMMA code coverage are now supported.
Server-agent communication was optimized for distributed build farms.

[004] - Asymptote 1.60
  by John Bowman (http://freshmeat.net/users/jcbowman/)
  Tue, Jan 27th 2009 10:09

Education
Multimedia :: Graphics :: Editors :: Vector-Based
Scientific/Engineering

About: Asymptote is a powerful descriptive vector graphics language for
technical drawing, inspired by MetaPost but with an improved C++-like
syntax. It provides for figures the same high-quality level of typesetting
that LaTeX does for scientific text. Asymptote is a programming language as
opposed to just a graphics program. It can exploit the best features of
script (command-driven) and graphical user interface (GUI) methods.
High-level graphics commands are implemented in the language itself,
allowing them to be easily tailored to specific applications.

Changes: An optional bool3 condition was added to the graph functions for
skipping points or segmenting a graph into distinct branches, based on a
user-supplied test (see gamma.asy). A gettriple routine was added. The
interp function first promotes its pen arguments to the highest colorspace.
Export exceptions are now caught gracefully. Under UNIX, xasy can now be
run from a write-protected directory. A workaround was implemented for the
inability of movie15.sty to handle spaces in file names. Stack overflow
diagnostics were improved. A read from pipe failure under MS-DOS was fixed.

About: Augeas is a configuration API and editing tool. It parses common
configuration files like /etc/hosts or /etc/grub.conf in their native
formats and transforms them into a tree. Configuration changes are made by
manipulating this tree and saving it back into native configuration files.

Changes: This release reports version and legal save modes in
/augeas/version. It allows changing the save mode at runtime. There are
various enhancements and fixes to lenses.

  by Vikram Roopchand (http://freshmeat.net/users/vikramrc/)
  Tue, Jan 27th 2009 14:24

Software Development :: Object Brokering

About: j-Interop is a Java Open Source library (under LGPL) that
implements the DCOM wire protocol (MSRPC) to enable development of Pure,
Bi- Directional, Non-Native Java applications which can interoperate with
any COM component. The implementation is itself purely in Java and does
not use Java Native Interface (JNI) to provide COM access. This allows
the library to be used from any Non-Windows platform. It comes with pre-
implemented packages for automation. This includes support for IDispatch,
ITypeInfo, and ITypeLib. For more flexibility (in the cases where
automation is not supported), it provides an API set to directly invoke
operations on a COM server.

Changes: This drop fixes issues related to reference counting done by the
library for each COM object. It is highly recommended to move to this
release as soon as time permits.

System :: Monitoring

About: Likewise Open is an application that joins Linux, Unix, and Mac OS
machines to Microsoft Active Directory and securely authenticates users
with their domain credentials. Features include: joining non-Windows
systems to Active Directory domains in a single step from the command line
or from a GUI; authenticating users with a single user name and password;
enforcing the same password policies for all platforms; supporting multiple
forests with one-way and two-way cross forest trusts; caching credentials
in case your domain controller goes down; and providing single sign-on for
SSH and Putty. It does not require Active Directory schema changes for
installation.

Changes: Now, when a bad username/password are given to domainjoin, it
will report "password is incorrect for this account" instead of "call to
krb5 failed." This release also fixes an FD leak from bad control rights
message, handles user enumeration when a username has no "", and fixes a

About: MIMEDefang is a flexible MIME email scanner designed to do all
kinds of email processing, including anti-virus scanning, anti-spam
scanning, replacing parts of messages with URLs, adding boilerplate
disclaimers, and so on. It can alter or delete various parts of a MIME
message according to a Perl-based policy filter. It can also bounce
messages with unacceptable attachments and modify SMTP response codes on

  by Izzy (http://freshmeat.net/users/izzysoft/)
  Tue, Jan 27th 2009 01:13

Information Management
Internet
Internet :: WWW/HTTP

About: phpDiveLog displays the information of your Aqua DiveLog LogBook
based on CSV files you generate with the Java Conduit shipped with Aqua
DiveLog. These dynamic pages are nicely and lucidly formatted. phpDiveLog
allows you to combine these data with additional information, such as
pictures or other external data sources. You can create your own skins
(template sets) to change the look and feel to match your Web site.

Changes: Norwegian language support has been added, and several fixes have
been applied (import module, GPS calculation for Google Maps/Earth, and
dive profile graph). The Google Maps link on site pages should now be more
obvious (a rotating globe instead of a static one). Also added were graphs
for the dive schedule: depending on configuration, either integrated into
the profile graph, as a separate graph in the schedule block, or none at
all.

[059] - phpLogCon 2.5.24 (Beta)
  by deltaray (http://freshmeat.net/users/deltaray/)
  Tue, Jan 27th 2009 14:30

System :: Logging
System :: Monitoring

About: phpLogCon is a Web front-end for syslog and other network event
data. It provides easy browsing, searching, basic analysis, and some
graphics. Data is taken from databases or plain syslog text files, so
phpLogCon does not require changes to an existing logging infrastructure.
Depending on the log data present, it can process syslog messages, Windows
event log entries, and some more exotic things. Its troubleshooting support
enables users to quickly find solutions to problems seen in the log data.

Changes: Italian language files were added. Loading of language files was
improved to avoid display errors if a translation is incomplete. Database
performance of MySQL and PDO logstream source drivers was enhanced.
Searching and paging through results is now much faster on larger
databases. Pager performance on the index and detail pages was enhanced.
The DB logstream classes were hardened against invalid parameters. Missing
include file were added for debug functions. Debug messages are now printed
well formatted below the site content. The documentation was improved.

into two independent parts: a graphical one and a command line utility. The
graphical interface contains package searching and category browsing
functions. Rally assumes the Fedora project as a reference platform.

Changes: A "timeout" parameter was added to specify the maximum waiting
time for the downloader. Three situations were fixed which could lead to a
crash in the GUI. CLI enhancements: the actualization command was
implemented (install or update); the ability to enable and disable
repositories was added; the (-I) modifier was added to disable the network
scanning before generating a report. The "noenforce" parameter was added,
which allows you to switch SELinux to the Permissive mode automatically.
Various visual improvements were made in the GUI.

[072] - The Mana World 0.0.26
  by Bjørn Lindeijer (http://freshmeat.net/users/bjorn81/)
  Tue, Jan 27th 2009 19:26

Games/Entertainment :: Role-Playing

About: The Mana World (TMW) is a serious effort to create an innovative
free and open source MMORPG. It uses 2D graphics and aims to create a large
and diverse interactive world. The game aims to be a unique place for
people to interact not only by fighting each other but to play life, form a
community within the community, or just simply chat. Although the game is
never-ending and a linear story cannot be applied, it should have enough
background to describe and predefine tribes, kingdoms, and the environment
overall. Fullfilled quests should lead to certain events depending on them
being solved. Quests should also encourage teamwork.

Changes: Support was added for showing custom being effects, and new
features were added to the particle engine. Names and chat will no longer
overlap when possible. Support was added for messages sent by a newer
version of the eAthena server.
