[001] - AdaptCMS Lite 1.4
by Charlie Page (http://freshmeat.net/users/charliepage/)
Wed, Jan 28th 2009 08:54
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Dynamic Content
Internet :: WWW/HTTP :: Site Management
About: AdaptCMS Lite is a CMS that is made to provide complete control of
your Web site, ease of use, and easy adaptability to any type of Web site.
It's made easy with advanced custom fields, a very simple but powerful
template system, and much more.
Changes: The affiliates plugin was fixed. Delete confirmation was fixed.
JavaScript scripts were upgraded. Pagination was added on the section and
home page areas. An advanced admin search was added. The shoutbox plugin
was upgraded. The most heavily upgraded areas were the RSS importer plugin,
which now uses SimpleRSS instead of MagpieRSS, the image resizer, the
article postponer, and the ability to use custom fields everywhere.

[002] - AnomicFTPD 0.94
by Michael Christen (http://freshmeat.net/users/Orbiter/)
Wed, Jan 28th 2009 18:30
Communications
Communications :: File Sharing
Internet
About: AnomicFTPD is an RFC959-compliant FTP server with OS- independent
user and group management. Active and passive modes, non-root mode, and
anonymous and/or read-only modes are supported. A built-in client IP
filter acts as a firewall and provides additional access limitation. The
server has no online interface; attributes, groups, and user accounts are
configured through text files. The protocol/ format-unspecified LIST
command produces output that is compatible with most FTP clients,
including common Web browsers in FTP mode.
Changes: This release has a fix to support static IPs in passive mode.

[003] - Armadillo C++ Library 0.4.0
by gtfjbl (http://freshmeat.net/users/gtfjbl/)
Wed, Jan 28th 2009 16:05
Scientific/Engineering
Scientific/Engineering :: Mathematics
Software Development :: Libraries
About: Armadillo is a C++ linear algebra library (matrix and vector maths)
aiming towards a good balance between speed and ease of use. Its intended
target audience is scientists and engineers. A delayed evaluation approach,
based on template meta-programming, is used (during compile time) to
combine several operations into one and reduce or eliminate the need for
temporaries. Where applicable, the order of operations is optimized.
Furthermore, optional interfaces to LAPACK and ATLAS functions are
provided.
Changes: Configuration and installation are considerably easier. Many
functions for statistics were added. Handling of complex numbers was
improved.

[004] - bandwidth 0.16
by fbui (http://freshmeat.net/users/fbui/)
Wed, Jan 28th 2009 08:50
System :: Benchmark
About: bandwidth is a benchmark to estimate the memory bandwidth of a
system, including main memory, L2 cache, framebuffer memory, and string
library performance.
Changes: x86_64 assembly code was added for 64-bit Linux. Both 64-bit
transfers and 128-bit SSE2 transfers were implemented. Version 0.16 is
really a 64-bit only release. Use version 0.15 for 32-bit. You will need
Nasm 2 to assemble x86_64 code.

[005] - Client-side GChart 2.4
by johngunther (http://freshmeat.net/users/johngunther/)
Wed, Jan 28th 2009 09:03
Scientific/Engineering :: Visualization
Software Development :: Libraries
Software Development :: Widget Sets
About: Client-side GChart is a pure-GWT client-side charting solution. It
does not require browser plugins, external JavaScript, or server
round-trips. The package supports bar, line, and pie charts, custom ticks,
left and right y axes, grid-lines, annotated data points, pop-ups, click
events, and more.
Changes: GChart now tracks mouse activities over the chart, and selects
points, displays pop-ups, and fires off click events accordingly. The
updated live demo illustrates all of these new features.

[006] - CloudVPN 1.0.6
by [exa] (http://freshmeat.net/users/exaexa/)
Wed, Jan 28th 2009 16:10
Communications
Internet
System :: Networking
About: CloudVPN is a VPN that allows mesh networking. It can create
secured networks with special or weird topologies. All nodes of the network
are equal and can connect in any way, so it's very easy to create
connection schemes with (for example) clustered servers, decentralized
servers, complete topologies for better throughput, ring topologies for
failover, long-line for passing through many routes, or tree topology for
optimizing inter-server bandwidth needs. It is very easy to get working.
Changes: A new SSL verification scheme supports CA trees and CRLs. Network
bridging is now possible, even with some optimizations for mesh shape.
Massive code and warning cleanup was done. Some fixes were made for
OpenBSD. Logging and status export were improved. ToS and nodelay settings
were added for connections. A new user-friendly daemon-controlling script
was added.

[007] - Config::Model::Backend::Augeas 0.104
by Dominique Dumont (http://freshmeat.net/users/ddumont/)
Wed, Jan 28th 2009 16:07
System :: Systems Administration
About: Config::Model::Backend::Augeas provides a bridge between
Config::Model and Augeas configuration managements systems (ā la /etc, not
SCM). Augeas is able to load and write data while respecting the structure
and comments of the original configuration file. Config::Model is able to
validate the semantic content of the configuration file, but it will
discard all comments and will write back configuration data using a
canonical order.
Changes: Lot of improvements were made to deal correctly with complex
Augeas lenses. The correct order of configuration parameters is ensured by
Config::Model (this cannot always be achieved with Augeas). This release
was tested with Hosts and Sshd lens. Note that an Augeas bug requires this
module to be run with LANG='C'.

Games/Entertainment :: Turn Based Strategy
About: Conquest is a simultaneous turn-based online multiplayer strategy
game placed in a dark and distant future. Play the role of a futuristic
Commander. Divide your armies and conquer the world. Position satellites to
reveal your opponents. Launch missiles to annihilate big armies, but watch
out for incoming drop pods behind your back. Standing in your path to
victory are other Commanders like yourself. Fight them off one by one and
prove you are the greatest of the great. The game uses 2D graphics, a slick
interface, strategic depth, and fast-paced turns. Drag and drop your way to
victory.

About: Exbase is a backup system which aims to replace hand-written backup
scripts. Instead of writing backup scripts for each kind of system, Exbase
adopts this task by working as some kind of middleware between the backup
source and its targets. Exbase is configured using an XML configuration
file. Exbase works by fetching data from the source(s) and delivering it to

by gambas (http://freshmeat.net/users/gambas/)
Wed, Jan 28th 2009 23:43
Software Development :: Interpreters
About: Gambas is a graphical development environment based on a Basic
interpreter, like Visual Basic. It uses the Qt toolkit, but is able to use
any other toolkit that a module is written for.
Changes: The Balloon is displayed properly again. The autotools packager
now correctly handles projects having spaces in their directory. The last
column of a GridView is correctly stretched when its width is explicitly
set. Serial port devices are watched for reading, not for writing, so that
the callbacks are not called permanently. The development environmental
project property dialog now lists components stored in the user home
directory separately.

[016] - GNU ddrescue 1.10-rc2 (Development)
by Antonio Diaz Diaz (http://freshmeat.net/users/ant_diaz/)
Wed, Jan 28th 2009 22:21
System :: Recovery Tools
About: GNU ddrescue is a data recovery tool. It copies data from one file
or block device (hard disc, cdrom, etc) to another, trying hard to rescue
data in case of read errors. GNU ddrescue does not truncate the output file
if not asked to. So, every time you run it on the same output file, it
tries to fill in the gaps. The basic operation of GNU ddrescue is fully
automatic. That is, you don't have to wait for an error, stop the program,
read the log, run it in reverse mode, etc. If you use the logfile feature
of GNU ddrescue, the data is rescued very efficiently (only the needed
blocks are read). Also you can interrupt the rescue at any time and resume
it later at the same point.
Changes: The option "--try-again" has been added.

About: Minerva is a complete, easy to use home automation suite. It allows
you to switch your on lights from anywhere using a mobile phone or PC,
email your video, check CCTV footage, control your central heating, and
much more. It relies on command line and can therefore be run from
virtually any platform (smart phone, PDA, laptop, or remote PC) with
identical functionality. The architecture consists of three parts: input,
output, and process. Each is completely distinct, meaning you can control
any of the house processes from any supported input conduit such as a Web
browser, remote control, or SMS. Reports or notifications can be sent to
any of the available output conduits.
Changes: monexec was introduced to trigger external scripts upon actions,
such as playing songs or controlling lights. monexec handlers were added
for: cdplayer, mp3player, alarm, x10control, kettle, and announce.
X10control provides access to the device names and maps (through ALIAS in
x10.conf).

[033] - Nagzilla 1.5.4-1
by Hurricane Labs (http://freshmeat.net/users/hurricanelabs/)
Wed, Jan 28th 2009 18:30
About: Nagzilla was designed to be a Jabber relay "bot", in that it sits
quietly in a room until it gets a message to relay to either a chat room or
a person. The early work was based on several simple examples out on the
Internet, but would just keep logging into a room every time the bot had
something to say. It was made a daemon, which allows it to get Nagzilla
alerts from various systems and event creators. Nagzillac (the client
program) accepts any string input and makes it into a Jabber message. This
should work with Google Talk (as it's Jabber-based), but that is untested.
Changes: Inline comments have been replaced with above line comments.

sent to the other hosts via authenticated TCP connections. A Web interface
is available, as is a Windows client.
Changes: This release includes preliminary support for Power Distribution
Units (PDUs), either natively or through a binding to the Powerman daemon.
It also includes support for several new devices, and a new "repeater" mode
for the dummy-ups driver. Support for tcp-wrappers was added to replace
NUT's non-standard ACL system. NUT also includes a new Python-based client

Software Development
About: SWEC is a program that automates testing of dynamic Web sites. It
parses each HTML file it finds for links, and if those links are within the
site specified, it will check that page as well. In addition to parsing and
locating links, it will also parse the pages looking for known errors and
report those. It will report if a page cannot be read (by either returning
a 404, 500, or similar).
Changes: Many new tests were added. Internal error codes are generated for
HTTP errors so that you may exclude those tests. Better assumptions are
made when you only supply a single URL on the commandline. Binary files are
now skipped based upon their returned HTTP content type, and not just their
extension. A HEAD request is now performed before doing the GET request, so
that skipped files are not downloaded needlessly. URL seeds will now be

About: The WiKID Strong Authentication System is a highly scalable, secure
two-factor authentication system. It is simple to implement and maintain,
allows users to be validated automatically, requires no hardware tokens,
has a simple API for application support (via Ruby, PHP, Java, COM, Python,
etc.), supports multiple domains, and supports replication for fault
tolerance and scalability. It also supports mutual /host and transaction
authentication, wireless tokens only domains, locked tokens (to your PC),
anti-keystroke logger keypad PIN entry, etc.
Changes: A bug in the user validation process has been fixed.

[063] - xTests 0.10.2
by Dr Proctor (http://freshmeat.net/users/DrProctor/)
Wed, Jan 28th 2009 08:35
Software Development :: Quality Assurance
About: xTests is a small, simple, lightweight, portable unit/component
testing library for exercising C and C++ libraries. It relies on no
platform-specific or compiler-specific constructs and doesn't require
pre-processing of your source code by scripting languages or use macros to
create secret classes that use Schwarz counters to register test cases. It
relies on you to simply code what you want, and nothing that you don't
want.
Changes: This release adds full support for custom reporter functionality,
facilities for length-limiting string comparison, and missing macros for
case-insensitive string inequality. It also corrects a defect whereby
s/uint64 integer failures were not counted towards the total and other
minor defects.
