About: AKFAvatar is software where an image of an avatar appears on the
screen and tells things written in a balloon. First the avatar moves slowly
in from the right side, then text is shown in a balloon. The program
avatarsay can be used as a fancy terminal emulator, or as a fancy text
reader or man page viewer. Furthermore, the program supports some basic
commands, so it can be used as a scripting language for simple demos. You
can use the libakfavatar library from your own C programs. There is also a
rather mature Pascal binding for GNU Pascal and Free Pascal.
Changes: There are many new features, mainly for making demos. Demo
scripts must be rewritten (sorry). You can bundle demo files with images
and sounds in an archive file. There is a large new demo in the download
area that shows more of what can be done with the software. There are also
some bugfixes.

About: Asymptote is a powerful descriptive vector graphics language for
technical drawing, inspired by MetaPost but with an improved C++-like
syntax. It provides for figures the same high-quality level of typesetting
that LaTeX does for scientific text. Asymptote is a programming language as
opposed to just a graphics program. It can exploit the best features of
script (command-driven) and graphical user interface (GUI) methods.
High-level graphics commands are implemented in the language itself,
allowing them to be easily tailored to specific applications.
Changes: An alignment problem with the pdflatex tex engine was fixed.
Problems in the animations module were fixed. Optional direction arguments
were added for three-dimensional bars. The appearance and alignment of the
planar arrowheads DefaultHead2, HookHead2, and TeXHead2 were improved; they
now accept an optional normal argument and respect the filltype. A
transverse/longitudinal confusion was fixed in solids.asy. The camera
adjustment routine was improved; an autoadjust option was added and the
user is notified when the camera is moved. Midpoint interpolation was
reinstated for drawing contours.

About: atool is a script for managing file archives of various types (tar,
tar+gzip, zip etc). The main command is aunpack, which extracts files from
an archive. It overcomes the problem of extracting files from an archive
without checking whether the files were located in a subdirectory or in the
top directory of the archive, resulting in files scattered all over the
place by first extracting to a new directory. If there was only a single
file in the archive, that file is moved to the original directory. It also
prevents local files from being overwritten by mistake. The other commands
are apack for creating archives, als for listing files in archives, and
acat for extracting files to standard out.

squares are two knight moves apart. It includes a weak chess program
(called Vince) that lets you lag the display by several ply, hide all

About: KAlarm lets you configure personal messages to be displayed,
commands to be executed, or emails to be sent at scheduled times. Among its
options, it allows you to choose the message font and color, recurrence
schedule, whether to display an advance reminder, whether to speak the
message or play a sound when it is displayed, and whether to cancel the
alarm if it can't be triggered on time (e.g. if you are logged out at the
time). As well as using the graphical interface to configure alarms, you
can use the command line, and there is a DCOP/D-Bus interface for other
applications.
Changes: The screensaver is now canceled when an alarm is displayed.
Multiple identical command error messages are suppressed. Invalid alarms in
the calendar were getting stuck and causing high CPU usage; this has been

About: Mount-gtk is a front end for pmount. It provides a means of
mounting devices with pmount through a graphical interface. It is intended
for use whenever automounting facilities are not desired or are not
effective. It is built as a single-instance program: if the user attempts
to start it when another instance of it is already running, the existing
instance will be brought up on the current desktop. It will therefore not
usually be necessary to mark it as displayable on all desktops.

were adjusted to display correctly in NolaPrint pricelist version. Better
support was added for overriding extended prices in the POS. Profit display
on POS screen was changed to be optional via AR setup.

About: The Parted Magic OS employs core programs from GParted and Parted
to handle partitioning tasks with ease, while featuring other useful
programs including Partition Image, TestDisk, fdisk, sfdisk, dd, and
ddrescue and an excellent set of documentation to benefit the user. An
extensive collection of fileystem tools are also included, and the
following filesystems are supported: ext2, ext3, ext4, FAT16, FAT32, HFS,
HFS+, JFS, Linux-swap, NTFS, ReiserRS, reiser4, and XFS. It loads
completely to system memory and requires at least 300MB of RAM to operate.
Changes: The package installer had a scripting error that wouldn't allow
more than one package to be installed. The /mnt/local directory was added
to make G4L work. Some fixes and features were added to the wipe and mount
scripts. The code for booting ISO images directly using GRUB4DOS was merged
back in after the last round of major changes. The code for forcing devices
at boot with uuid= and label= was also merged back in. The "unnamed window"
bug was fixed in conky. Web links in the about dialogs of GTK apps launch
now. XFCE files were added so that help in screenshooter works.
