I have heard an indirect report that one of the major online system vendors is having a problem with a trojan horse asking users for account information and credit card numbers. No indication whether the trojan is diverting modems from the local point of presence, somewhere inside the vendor's private network, or inside the vendor's hosts. It might be worthwhile to remind naive users not to enter credit card information if unexpectedly asked for it, and that it's safer to call the vendor's help line if in doubt.
