NIS uses a lot of the files from
tGuard. Unfortunately, when NIS is
installed while
tGuard still exists, major problems occur.
tGuard
needs to be completely removed from your box if you intend to trial or
use NIS
This from Steve Gibson's pages (http://grc.com/su-firewalls.htm):
A WARNING TO CURRENT ATGUARD USERS: The two products are still so
similar that NIS2K's files utterly collided with AtGuard's when NIS2K
was installed on the same machine! Attempting to edit NIS2K's settings
brought up AtGuard's dialog boxes! So, at least in the case of this
NIS2K beta, you absolutely must remove AtGuard before installing NIS2K.
Things are still obviously wrinkled for the two f/walls.
