I'm in the process of creating a list of about 20 books--all 300-1000 pages
in length (expect it to be published on the web over the next few months).
While I don't anticipate anyone needing all of those books, the point of the
exam is to increase the overall level of expertise of the security
    profession.

If CISSP takers do not end up with a higher level of knowledge than those
who do not take the test, then there is no benefit to there being a
certification program. If otherwise unprepared test applicants could pass
the test by reading a single book (especially one that was less than 600
pages), then the test would be without value.

There is no single book that contains everything you need to know in order
to be an information security officer, just like there is no single book you
can study to become a lawyer or a doctor.

I don't mean to be harsh, but the test is supposed to be difficult. For
those who want to do this difficult thing, many of us are prepared to assist
    in preparation.
