Folks, there is a new survey up on the web site
(http://infosec.gungadin.com). We are taking our yearly vote on list
moderation, and you can do your part to make this list a better place for
everyone. Last year the votes for continued moderation slightly outweighed
the votes for making the list un-moderated, who knows what will happen this
    year.

Everyone has their own opinions on moderated (and un-moderated lists). Now
is the time to voice yours. The voting ends on Jan 15, 2002 (1 week from
now) regardless of how many votes have been received (there are about six
thousand members, don't let me down!). I really hope everyone will vote,
because it's important to me to reflect the decision of the majority when
making changes to this list. It's the members that make this list so great
    (that means YOU!).

Some important notes and comments on having an un-moderated list: Any
violation of the ISC(2) confidentiality agreement or code of ethics (i.e.
giving away information on the exam, discussing inappropriate topics or
concepts) will be treated very seriously and will be reported to ISC(2) for
follow-up. This is no different than it has ever been, although with a
moderator screening and approving posts it's much more difficult to get
yourself into trouble. With no moderator, when you hit 'send' your mail
will be sent automatically to thousands of people. It will simply require
an extra second of time when sending a message to make sure your in-line
with ISC(2) and this lists rules and expectations. The other change to the
list if we switch to un-moderated is that we will be more strict about
conduct. If you are annoying other list members with your posts, tone or
personality and we receive enough complaints, you can find another place to
study. It's pretty simple. Keep it light, keep it on-topic and keep it
professional and there will never be a problem.

Again, the voting booth is open at http://infosec.gungadin.com - it's a big
white box right on the main page, you can't miss it. Please vote today, it
will only take a few seconds! There is a running tally that you can see
    -after- you vote...

    Your moderator,
    -Scott C. Sanchez, CISSP
