I assume that he is checking whether or not it could be a factor in
disqualification. In other words, why try to study for and take the exam if
the ISC2 just finds out later that you had a prior criminal record and takes
away your certification? You would have wasted all that time, effort and
money just to have it stripped because the rules might not have been clear.
Better to be safe than sorry, I would also advise contacting the ISC2 as
    well.

Since the rules don't explicitly state that you are not allowed to take the
exam if you have a criminal record (if in fact this is the case, I have not
checked) why is your 'friend' :) trying so hard to prevent himself from
taking it? As far as I'm aware it's not even a question on the application
    form.

To briefly mention an old subject; ISC2 seem much more concerned about how
many years experience you have, rather than whether or not your are a
    convicted criminal :)

Just so you know, I posted this article on the CISSPFORUM and the response
so far (besides one) is a resounding NO. I would have him contact ISC^2 for
    a formal rejection.

Apolgies that this is a bit off-topic. I can't seem to find an
    answer to
the question elsewhere, and I know many of the appropriate people
            subscribe.

A friend of mine (it's actually true in this case, believe it or
    not) has
a question regarding qualifying to get his CISSP certification. He
    has a
felony conviction for computer crimes. He'd like to get his CISSP,
    but
the requirements are not clear. He's fully aware of the code of
    ethics,
and has no problem with that going forward. The question has to do
    with
past behavior. The code is written in present and future tense.

So, assuming all the listed qualifications are met, will he have a
    problem
            obtaining his CISSP?
