I have just done a search on the "most" popular of IT recruitment sites in
the UK.
Guess what, I only found 1 Vacancy posted in the last 7 days. And that was
in Brussels!
When I have mentioned the qualification in "security" circles, I mean people
who are actively involved in designing and implementing IT Security
policies, and practices, most of them have never heard of it.
I think ISC should take a while to promote the exam. I mean, Surely they
are generating enough revenue through the review courses, and exam fees!
Cheers

just saw this post so perhaps i'll chip in my 2 cents worth
:)
it is true that cissp awareness in singapore is lacking but
do look at the
bright side. a colleague who took it last july in singapore
said that there
were over a hundred candidates taking them... (not sure how
true but then
again why would he lie?). it was also the first time the
paper was held in
singapore. hopefully, they'll hold it again here this year
cos i wanna take
mine this year :P and if some of you do remember, about a
year ago, there
were only less than 5 people listed in isc2 website for
singapore... now...
it's more than 40 people...!!!
btw, he was sponsored by my company (hopefully i'll be
sponsored too this
year) so i think tat the awareness though low... is
spreading at a very
rapid rate.
cheers!

Singapore isn't the only country where CISSP awareness is
lacking. I passed
my certification in November, and I've found since then that
very few people
outside the Infosec community know of the cert.
I think there should be a lot more effort put toward
marketing the cert and
its value to the IT community as a whole.
Just my 2 cents.

Hi,
I'm a Singaporean who has just got my CISSP 1 month ago on
my first try.
However I find that alot of Singaporeans are not aware of
this
certification. A few months ago, my VP of IT told us to
think of a Core
Competence Plus (CC+) topic which everyone need to do. I
told my VP that I'd
like to take the CISSP examination and this would be my CC+.
Firstly, my VP
don't know what is CISSP and have never heard of ISC2.
Secondly, he told me
that "This certification only benefit yourself and it
doesn't benefit the
company in any way". His answers didn't affect me in any
way. I flew to
HongKong with my friend to take the examination. Luckily, I
pass but not for
my friend...he got 696 points! 4 more marks to pass..how
unfortunate.
The question here is how can ISC2 spread the awarness of
CISSP certification
in Singapore or in other countries.
Thank you
Andrew Chong, CISSP
Senior Systems Architect
