Well, the results are in. An overwhelming 76% of you said we should keep
the list moderated. Now it's time to step up and help out. I would like
to find 4 assistant moderators for each list (cisspstudy and
certification). Your job will be as follows:
* Review posts to the list and approve or reject them based on the rules of
the list and your general feel for the "on-topic-ness" (that's not really a
word, but you know what I mean) of the post
Right now, it's only me as moderator. This may come as much of a surprise,
but I don't sit in front of my email box all day waiting to approve
posts. I only look at pending posts at night (New York time, GMT-5), and
usually only once over the weekend. I also travel for many weeks each
year. This does not give us very good turnaround on discussions if your
posts are sitting in my inbox for 2 days or 2 weeks before being approved.
Having 4 moderators helping out on each list will definitely help keep the
lists moving. I want the assistants to be in different regions of the
world to give us near 24x7 coverage.
The 4 moderators should be as follows:
2 from "the Americas" (N. America, S. America, etc.) time zones
1 from a Europe time zone
1 from an Asia time zone
You must also be a CISSP. The reason for this is simple; how are you going
to know if someone is disclosing information about the exam if you haven't
taken it yourself. Another reason, I reject a good many posts that violate
the ISC(2) code of ethics for one reason or another. Part of your job will
be to help enforce both of these rules.
If you feel that you qualify, please forward this message to
modapply@gungadin.com with the following information:
Your name
Your email
Your physical location (country, city, etc.) - be specific
Your time zone (GMT please)
Your CISSP # & the month and year that you passed the exam
I will be verifying your cissp status with ISC(2).
Thank you everyone for your support!

Survey results:
The question was:
Should CISSPSTUDY@SECURITYFOCUS.COM continue to be moderated or should we
let the members moderate themselves (with moderators in the background to
keep things under control when needed?).
Yes, keep it Moderated.: 76.20%
No, Change it to Un-Moderated.: 18.37%
I don't know.: 5.42%
Total Votes: 332
(I am carrying these results over to the certification list too)
