TITLE: OpenVMS ALP_KR_E04072-V0100 Hangul V7.2/Alpha V7.2-2 ECO Summary
New Kit Date: 03-DEC-2001
Modification Date: Not Applicable
Modification Type: Updated Kit Supersedes ALP_KR_E02072
NOTE: An OpenVMS saveset or PCSI installation file is stored
on the Internet in a self-expanding compressed file.
For OpenVMS savesets, the name of the compressed saveset
file will be kit_name.a-dcx_vaxexe for OpenVMS VAX or
kit_name.a-dcx_axpexe for OpenVMS Alpha. Once the OpenVMS
saveset is copied to your system, expand the compressed
saveset by typing RUN kitname.dcx_vaxexe or kitname.dcx_alpexe.
For PCSI files, once the PCSI file is copied to your system,
rename the PCSI file to kitname-dcx_axpexe.pcsi, then it can
be expanded by typing RUN kitname-dcx_axpexe.pcsi. The resultant
file will be the PCSI installation file which can be used to install
the ECO.

ECO KIT SUMMARY:
An ECO kit exists for OpenVMS/Hangul V7.2 on OpenVMS Alpha V7.2-2.
This kit addresses the following problems:
o System Support and New Features
This kit is installed on Compaq AlphaServer systems running
Compaq OpenVMS/Hangul Alpha Version 7.2 with Compaq OpenVMS
Alpha Version 7.2-2. Compaq OpenVMS/Hangul Alpha provides the
following new features and enhancements:
o Alpha Server GS80/160/320 systems support for using Alpha
Server EV68 CPUs and EV67 CPUs in the same system
o SMP performance enhancements
o Volume shadowing minicopy feature
o Fibre Channel tape support
o Enhanced OpenVMS Registry server
o Kerberos support
o LAN ATM adapter support
o HDUMP
Compaq OpenVMS/Hangul HDUMP is updated to change the date format
of ODS-1 file for Y2K.
Image(s) Affected: [HSYEXE]HDUMP.EXE
o HMAIL
In the Compaq OpenVMS/Hangul HMAIL utility, starting with Ver-
sion 7.0, if a user attempts to forward a foreign file, the
FORWARD command fails and the user is returned to the HMAIL>
prompt. No message of any kind is displayed. HMAIL has been
modified to correctly allow forwarding of foreign files.
In addition, Compaq OpenVMS/Hangul HMAIL expands KEYNODEF to
include keys F6 through F14 as mentioned in HMAIL>HELP DEFINE
Parameters.
In previous versions of Compaq OpenVMS/Hangul Alpha, the
SEND/LAST command in HMAIL does not work correctly after
MAIL/EDIT is used. This problem is fixed in this new HMAIL.
Image(s) Affected: [HSYEXE]HMAIL.EXE
[SYSLIB]HMAILSHR.EXE
[SYSLIB]HMAILSHRP.EXE
[SYSMSG]HMAILMSG.EXE
[SYSMSG.HANGUL]HMAILMSG.EXE
[SYSLIB]HSYSHR.EXE
o SHOW
The Compaq OpenVMS Registry introduced a new DCL command in
Compaq OpenVMS Alpha Version 7.2-1, SHOW SERVER, to show the
current status of the Compaq OpenVMS Registry on a specified
node. As a result, for Compaq OpenVMS/Hangul Alpha Version 7.2
running on Compaq OpenVMS Alpha Version 7.2-1, the SHOW utility
only displayed the message number instead of the message if
users use the "SHOW SERVER" command to get the status of the
server. The problem is fixed in this kit.
In addition, Compaq OpenVMS Alpha extends all physical memory up
to 76GB in Compaq OpenVMS Alpha Version 7.2-1H1. All physical
memory page count fields in SHOW MEMORY are required to be
widened. Also, the qualifier /RAD has been added into SHOW
PROCESS to display hard affinity domain. To support these new
functions, the CLIUTLMSG.EXE image has been updated.
In Compaq OpenVMS Alpha Version 7.2-2, two major new features
(Volume Shadowing minicopy and Fibre Channel tape support) are
added. New messages in SHOW DEVICE are required to be added in
CLIUTLMSG image.
Image(s) Affected: [SYSMSG]CLIUTLMSG.EXE
[SYSMSG.HANGUL]CLIUTLMSG.EXE
o DCL
A new lexical for RAD SYI items is introduced in Compaq Open-
VMS Alpha Version 7.2-1H1. Compaq OpenVMS/Hangul DCL has been
enhanced to support this feature.
In addition, this new DCL provides two fixes. One is the problem
in UNSTACK when the command is used to "unstack" back to proce-
dure level zero in BATCH mode. The other one is that F$CONTEXT
returns a wrong status from F$CONTEXT_EXIT.
Image(s) Affected: [SYSEXE]DCL.EXE
INSTALLATION NOTES:
The new images in this kit will not take effect until the system
is rebooted.
If you have other nodes in your OpenVMS cluster, they are NOT
required to be shut down and rebooted.
