    PROBLEM SUMMARY
    ===============

    SSRT2271 SANworks Management Appliance II & Microsoft SQL Server or
    Microsoft Data Engine

    Broad-based attacks on Microsoft's SQL Server sites have
    been recently discovered by many security research groups
    and reported in an incident note by CERT/CC IN-2002-04 .
    This bulletin is in follow-up to the previous announcements
    that describe this potential vulnerability.

      The HP Security Bulletin will be posted to the support
      website within 24 hours of release to -

      Use the SEARCH IN feature box, enter SSRT2314 in the
      search window.

    Install SANworks Management Appliance V1.0C Service Pack 3

        Kit Name: SMA_10C_SP3
    Prerequisite: Open SAN Manager V1.0C (Management Appliance
                  Update (Jan 2002)) installed.

    The Management Appliance V1.0C Service Pack 3 changes the
    sa password on the Management Appliance MSDE/SQL database.

    NOTE: Before installing the SANworks Management Appliance V1.0C
           Service Pack 3, ensure that the Management Appliance
           Software Update January 2002 (Open SAN Manager V1.0C) has
           been installed on the Management Appliance.

    The SANworks Management Appliance V1.0C Service Pack 3 will
    not install with previous versions of Open SAN Manager.

    To check if the Management Appliance Software Update
    January 2002 has been installed on the Management
    Appliance, access the Open SAN Manager home page. If
    the update has been installed, Open SAN Manager V1.0C
    displays at the top of the Content pane.

    If the update has not been installed, download the
    Management Appliance Software Update January 2002 from
    the Management Appliance home page:
