This is more of an OpenBSD developer issue, but I thought people here
would be interested.
Seems that starting with 2.7 (currently 2.7 is beta, and only available
as an install snapshot with subsequent CURRENT CVS updates), OpenBSD
will include limited support for some dedicated crypto hardware,
starting with the PowerCrypt card (the OpenBSD people wrote their own
driver for the card and based the support of the underlying ASIC used,
one by Hifn).
This has spurred me on to see what I can do about adding to this sort of
support in OpenBSD; I happen to be doing some high-level work with
Rainbow Technologies' CryptoSwift accelerator card on Solaris, which
does a fair bit more than the PowerCrypt (PowerCrypt is a straight IPsec
only accelerator; CryptoSwift does low-level key gen, handles SSL, etc).
I'm busy updating source trees as I speak, and I have yet to talk to
Rainbow or OpenBSD people about it, but that should be within the next
few days.
If anyone on the list has pointers for me or has done this sort of thing
before, I'd love to hear from you.
