dude, that's because NO ONE and I mean NO ONE jay walks in seattle.
i lived in seattle for many years at the peak of the scene and i swear
to GOD
people would be staggering raving drunk around the streets of
broadway/capitol hill at 2am and they wouldn't jay walk. they'd dutifully
stay at the "Don't Walk" light until it said "Walk".
it was weird if you were hanging with a native seattlite at like the croc
(http://www.thecrocodile.com/) and wanted to haul ass down to pioneer
square
at midnight. (we had to walk. yeah, it's a ways. but no money for taxi,
just beer.)
the native wouldn't jay walk. no cars in sight. dead empty roads. 34
degrees. raining. like 15 blocks to go. standing on a street corner
waiting
for the fucking light to turn. we invariably left them in the dust...
i don't get the whole no jaywalking thing...
