  It would be interesting to see the amount that got followed up and the
amount that got withdrawn.

  How about Usenet? Google groups appears to have alt.test archived all the
way back to 1987! (And alt.anonymous.messages back to 1994, and that's a
fairly good place to post incomprehensible strings of gibberish. No, wait a
minute, pretty much the whole of alt.* is full of incomprehensible strings of
gibberish....!)
