[Dataloss] Australia: 44 Aussie Home Loans files found in recycle bin

Forty four files on customers of the mortgage lender Aussie Home Loans
was found in a recycle bin in a public corridor after an office
relocation. Full text on the ABC 7.30 report is here:
http://www.abc.net.au/7.30/content/2008/s2393401.htm and a summary can
be found here: http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,24507833-29277,00.html

I saw the story on the ABC 7.30 report and the files contained birth
certificates, name changes, bank statements, full credit history, etc
etc. They spoke to a Detective Superintendent from the Queensland
Police who said that the files were probably worth $1 million in cash.

I think that the recycling bins were left inside the locked office and a
cleaner moved the bins out into the public corridor, but that's just my
opinion.
