Hewlett Packard has written to members of its HP benefits programme,
including current employees, to alert them that their personal data may
be at risk.

Scott Taylor, chief privacy officer at HP, wrote to members on the 8th of
December and said while he has no evidence the laptop has been misused,
"HP has been working closely with law enforcement authorities to recover
the laptop, which was stolen several months ago."

Taylor did not say why he was notifying the members several months after
the laptop was stolen, possibly because he's not sure what data is on the
machine.
