A former Mitsubishi UFJ Securities Co. employee was arrested on suspicion
of stealing data relating to about 1.5 million customers, a spokesman for
the Tokyo police department said.

The person is suspected of illegally accessing and copying data at two
offices of the brokerage unit of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group Inc.,
Japan.s biggest bank, between January and February, according to the
police official, who declined to be identified. The brokerage confirmed
the arrest in a statement and said it is cooperating with the police
investigation.

Mitsubishi UFJ Securities received complaints from more than 15,000
customers, including institutional clients, some of whom partially
suspended their business with the brokerage, Chief Executive Officer
Fumiyuki Akikusa said at a press briefing in Tokyo today. The company
disclosed in April one of its employees had sold personal data on almost
50,000 customers.
