    Hello,

After reading through the archive I still don't know what's wrong.

This is what I did sofar.
Installed redhat 7 on my sony vaio.Downloaded the cvs pcmcia-cs tarball from 5
    march. Installed it for 2.4

First I tried a wireless card from compac. And this card worked right of the
box. I could ping my cisco 340 base station.

My next step was the airo 4800 card. The card was recognised and 't installed
the correct modules. Then I do the following commands for configuring the card
    correctly
    echo Mode: adhoc > /proc/driver/aironet/eth0/Config
    echo tsunami > /proc/driver/aironet/eth0/SSID
    echo NodeName: 'vaio' > /proc/driver/aironet/eth0/Config
    /sbin/ifconfig eth0 up 192.168.1.2

Try to ping the base station, but no go.
This is the output of the Config file
    Mode: adhoc
    Radio: on
    NodeName: vaio
    PowerMode: CAM
    DataRates: 130 4 11 22 0 0 0 0
    Channel: 7

    TXDiversity: both
    RXDiversity: both

And the output of the Status

    SSID: tsunami

Another problem appeared after installing the latest pcmcia-cs tarball. My cdrom
drive is not configured correctly. This is the output I get:
    Mar 5 17:34:03 vaio cardmgr[247]: initializing socket 0
    Mar 5 17:34:03 vaio cardmgr[247]: socket 0: Ninja ATA

Mar 5 17:34:07 vaio kernel: hde: bad special flag: 0x03

Hope someone can help me with these problems.

    Thanks for reading sofar,

    Cheers,

            Erik
