Anyway, I've had an idea. I searched Google and found a few links to 2.4
GHz transmission and recieve amplifiers, and am currently waiting for a
price for the 4 watt version. If these are not too expensive for the ends
of long links, and with longer helical antennas (longer antennas produce a
more focused signal) problems with long links should not be too much of a
problem.

I don't know if this is still a problem with the network, but I'm sending
this information for information's sake, regardless.

If anyone would like, I'll update later with prices.
