All
does anyone know if it is possible to upgrade firmware on the wireless cards
from linux?
I recently upgraded the firmware on my powerbook, but to do this I had to boot
into macos and run some 8MB file I downloaded from apple after registereing on
their site to be able to do this. I now have firmware 7.27 or some such in my
airport card.
However the other end of my wireless setup here is a dlink card in an x86
box, this machine has never had windows or anything like that installed and I
dont have windowws lying around anywhere to install (plus it would be a huge
waste of time to spend the 80 gazillion hours it takes to get windows running
on a computer just for this)
I looked (quickly) through the wireless howto on Jean's site but couldnt find
anything answering the how do I upgrade firmware in linux sort of
question. (though there is a lot of mention of different firmware version
issues.
Anyway is it possible in linux? or should I find someone with a windows
laptop and get them to install the firmware update on the pcmcia card?
See You
Steve
