I have a Orinoco Gold card and also an external antenna (also from
Lucent). It plugs right into the card and increases boost by 15-50
percent. The Orinico is also very well supported under Linux. My
Mandrake 8.0 machine automatically recognized the card and used the
wavelan driver for it (I know that the orinoco_cs is newer, btu I
haven't had time to install it yet). Works great.
