Happy to report that this is now working...
I did a few different things, so it's hard to say what really fixed it. I
upgraded the firmware on my Linksys and changed a few settings.
What really turned out to make it work was rebooting without the wired
connection plugged in. I would like to understand why this is so. (In
Windows, it doesn't matter.) Perhaps someone can help me to understand why
linux (at least RH 7.0) works as it does.
