I'm trying to get a Compaq WL200 up and running on my Linux
box, and I'm not having much luck.
The card is basically the WL100 with a built in card socket controller
(The Cirrus Logic 6729), and after much work I've gotten the PCMCIA core
modules to load, but it's being recognized as the dreaded "anonymous
memory" card. In looking though the wlan FAQ and the PCMCIA Howto,
I'm pretty sure that it's a problem with the memory mapping. I've tried
the ranges suggested in the PCMCIA documentation, but so far to no avail.
Are the memory locations determined by the card itself, of by the
available memory in the computer? It it's the former, do one of you who
have the card working have valid memory addresses for it? In searching
the list, I see that several people have had success getting the card
to work, but their settings don't work in my box.
It it's a function of the system, I realize that this question is
off-topic, but what kind of things can be done in BIOS to free up more
memory for the card?
Thanks in advance.
