    The PCI-PCMCIA adapter that comes with the D-Link DWL-500 _does_ work as a
    true bridge. I use a D-Link DWL-500 in my linux desktop, using the
    pcmcia-cs drivers + Samsung driver, and everything works fine.

    Unfortunately, you are correct in that most others do not work as a true
    bridge, as I found out the hard way with a linksys adapter! =(

    This is because these adapters don't look like PCMCIA subsystems and just
    map the wlan cards into the PCI address space.
