Dear all,
With the help from linux-wlan user group, we were able to make our
linux box (2 ethernets, 1 pcmcia for wireless card) working as an AP.
Everything works fine until its client, a notebook running win98
continuously copying big files from its harddisk to a smb shared
folder on the linux box. The linux box will CRASH within a few
minutes up to an hour or so. We have tried on different i386 boxes
(Intel motherboard or others, Intel CPU or others. 128M or 64M memory,
PCI-PCMCIA or ISA-PCMCIA, Redhat 6.2 based linux 2.2.14 or 2.2.17.
pcmcia-cs-3.1.20, linux-wlan-ng-0.1.7, non-Bridge). They will all
crashed in that time range. But if the linux box is running as a
Station and the notebook still do the same continuously copying, then
the linux box won't crash. Or with the linux box is running as an AP,
but a win98 client on the ethernet LAN doing the similar copying to
the smb share, the linux will be fine too.
The crash dump says:
kmem_free: Bad obj addr (objp=c1c71510, name=size-128)
Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer derefernce at virtual address 000000000
Current->tss.cr3=00101000, %cr3=00101000
*pde=00000000
Why is the AP causing the memory corruption and the system crash ?
We desperately need help troubleshooting the problem. So please
please help.
Thanks,
---Susie Chu
