    Hello,

I've just recently got insight into the smartcard technology and I'm
guite confused just now. Please help me clarify some of these mysteries:

    1) PCKS#11 - I've understood that this is an application-level API, that
means API between application (netscape) and some kind of driver. What
is that 'driver', is it resource manager or what? Is it specific to a
smartcard type or may I use the same 'driver' for gemplus and
    schlumberger cards?

    2) How can a card provide PKCS#11 interface? Many vendors has on they
web page smartcard info that some card has a PKCS#11 interface. Is it
realy PCKS#11 commands that the card undrstands? Or does smartcard
communicate with some software component on PC and that software
    component provides PKCS#11 interface?
If that is the case, what protocol do they communicate? A proprietary
    one or some standard?

    TIA
