Hello,
I am curious whether any of you have access to the DoD CaC Card Edge
Specifications ? I have read for nearly 6 months that these are public
specifications, and in fact have a presentation by Rob Brandewie for the
DoD from Cartes 2001 where on Slide 11 it states:
"Publish specifications and distribute freely - example the card edge
specifications for our applets were published"
Where are these specifications ? I know that these specifications are
required in the contract to be public.
ActivCard is currently leading the DoD smartcard rollout and is in charge
of the strategy and rollout of the CaC applet. They currently have these
specifications and are either unwilling to release what is supposed to be
public documentation, or they have not finished preparing them.
The DoD smartcard is one of the most important US rollout of smartcards
and should be considered for the MUSCLE project as a MuscleCard plugin to
provide DoD with our suite of applications for Unix, to further promote
the use of Linux in the government.
Regards,
Dave
