Released on the website is a PAM module which will allow you to login to
your Linux/Solaris box using a smartcard. It will also work with
screensaver, kdelogin, and others.

It will do certificate based authentication in one of 2
methods.

Method 1:
Validates via challenge response with a cert in the user's home directory
and checks expiration of cert.

Method 2:
Validates a cert on the card via a root cert, checks expiration of both,
sends challenge/response and validates user id in email address.

These will work with all PAM enabled applications and with the
conversation functions so that the PIN for the Private Key is received
from the dialog box which would normally take the password.
